One canine higher than the other?

I had many crowns down on my front teeth and now one canine and the tooth next to it (don't know the name of it) lies higher up in the gum than the other side. A dental student told me this could be an abnormality in the maxilla. Has anyone heard of this before? How is it fixed?

Do you mean the crown or the tooth itself is placed higher on the gum? Usually the canine is a bulkier tooth as compared to the rest. However , your question could be answered if you could be more clear .
