What is the condition or name for a baby tooth that is one tooth but looks like two?

My sons right lateral incisor looks like two teeth. I can't remember what his dentist called it. The size of the "two teeth" is the size of his left lateral incisor. His dentist said it is not 2 teeth joined together b/c the canine teeth come in later(He's only 17 months old). Anyone know what this is called? I've never seen or heard of it. I've tried searching different things. I can't find any info. : /

Cat teeth cleaning/pulling?

My cat needs his teeth cleaned and possibly pulled (Last year the vet said to try to feed him chicken necks, but he wont eat them). Our vet wants $250 for having them cleaned, and then $500 if any need to be pulled. Another vet we've asked wants $385 regardless of if any teeth are pulled or not.

I was wondering (well, my mum, who's paying, was) if there is a way of being able to estimate if he will probably need to have them pulled or just cleaned? One of his canines is really browny/yellowy, with brown striped and chipped at the bottom, and most of his top teeth (not incisors or bottom teeth) are yellowy, with pink/reddish/some brownish blotched gums.

Or is there another teeth option that we haven't considered yet?

*He was a stray cat by the way. We are not horrible owners or anything.*

Cat teeth cleaning/pulling?
Wow, your cat's teeth looks better then mine (minus that one front canine).

The vet really should have been able to tell you weather at least that one tooth would need to be pulled. Mean yeah my cat's teeth looks like your cats (we can't afford getting his teeth cleaned) but its not hurting him any and we have the dental food as well. and I try to brush them (you should try that too if you can).

but really I still think a vet should be able to tell you if a tooth needs to be pulled BEFORE hand. So you can look at how much money you will be spending. But that depends on the vet. Some care about the animals, some just want the money.

Good luck to your kitty.
Reply:Wow. It sounds like his teeth are in pretty bad shape, and this could either be because he's a stray or just because of his genetic makeup. In my experience, when the teeth are chipped and brown, they usually need to be removed, and the gums should be pink...It sounds really painful.
Reply:Of course you're not terrible owners. Forget the judgment call on that one.

Me thinks your vet is not giving you all the information you require. S/he is either not fully informed or is of the breed of vet who is in the profession for the $$ and not the hipocratic oath. I have a cat with similar problems. My vet knows I'm in no financial position to have the "necessary" work done with my boy but advised me to switch over to a dental diet cat food. That has saved me a great deal. Harley still needs the dental work to some extent but he's okay for the time being.

Note: dental disease among cats is one of the leading causes of premature death. Poor dental care can lead to unforeseen infections that can affect the digestive, circulatory and cardiovascular. It's no different than with humans. Do your research.
Reply:Thats an awful lot of money isn't it? I think some vets out there are unscrupulous and in it for the cash to be charging this amount of money just to clean or pull teeth. I know they have to be put out for it and the gas costs but the amount stated is ridiculous! Of course you're not bad owners - you took him in off the streets and gave him a good home! Older cats will lose their teeth over the years and i'll give you a piece of advice. If he isn't in dire agony with his teeth, let them fall out on their own, it happens in the wild and they cope just fine with it. From your picture it seems as if he has a gum infection ( the red bits ) so i'd just ask your vet for some antibiotics to clear that up and some pain killers as it probably hurts a bit ( infection does especially in the mouth ) then let them come out on their own. My old cat lost her teeth over the years and was virtually gummy when she died but she never showed us any signs that her mouth was troubling her and she got on just fine with her dinner and her tit bits although she was on wet cat food towards the end of her life and she lived until she was 23! If you're concerned that she really needs them pulling then i'd look around for a cheaper vet! Good luck.
Reply:You did a good thing rescuing your kitty. Any cat can have dental problems. I have a 4 year old sphynx with terrible teeth/gums. He has already had 6 teeth pulled, which cost $180. That was in May and he already has had another round of antibiotics and 2 steroid shots for inflammation. He will probably need to have more removed. I have done some research and some cats will actually eat better and feel better without the teeth. Their gums are hard and they can still eat whatever food they want. I know my cat's teeth cause him pain because he has a bad attitude when his gums start getting red. He also gets really bad breath when they get bad.

The vet should be able to tell you approximately how many teeth may need to go. The difference should NOT be so great. My vet estimated $250-300 for a total extraction. You might want to check with some other vets in your area. Make sure they have lots of experience with cats teeth. You want only the best for your furry friend.

For a quick fix, the steroid shots have done wonders for Max. They last 1-2 months. I tried brushing his teeth, but he wouldn't have it!

Good luck with your kitty and his teeth. I hope he feels better soon!

Tooth???help?????

when i was 9 i got my 2 canine teeth removed yea doesnt sound bad but im 12 now and they're still not visible!!!!!!!!(not there) helpppp

Tooth???help?????
i'm a bit confused....

If both of your permanent canines were removed, they shouldn't be visible at all, neither by eye or by xray examination.

hope that helps
Reply:that typically sounds strange...

but i personally am reaaaally slow on my teeth. im almost 14 and my teeth are still not completely out but im getting work done and stuff. i would talk to my denist. im sure if their concerned, theyll tell u someday lol

really dont worry. worst thing that happens is they never come out (idk how that would be possible, actually, because u have to have adult teeth) and if they never come out, you can get vaneers over those teeths, or fake teeth (theyre really pretty common now, and a lot bettr quality than in the past)

if u have seen americas next top model, on the seasons (the winner was danielle but idk what year the season was) two women get work done, and its really good. jodie the girl with the snaggle tooth is kinda wat youd probably get. im talking about the final product.

believe me, im really paranoid with my teeth, but i think youll be fine, just talk to your orthodontist or denist

I have a dental bridge for my upper row of front teeth.. Should there be a gap between my gums and the bridge?

About a year ago, I had an accident that resulted in the loss of 4 of my upper front teeth.. The dentist pulled the broken ones and installed a 6 tooth long bridge that attached itself to both of my canines. I have a metal plate underneath, and the bridge is permanent (at least for ten years or so), but there appears to be a gap of space between the bridge and my upper gums. Should this be there?... Shouldn't the bridge be pushed all the way up to the gum to hide any spacing in between?... It looks horrible when I smile because of the blackness from the gap... makes my mouth look somewhat rotten to those who do not know that what they are seeing is a gap between the bridge and gums. The first time my dentist was to install the bridge, it turned out that the lab has made it in the incorrect size, so I had to come back... he seemed skiddish upon installing the second one, I think he knew it didn't fit correctly, but installed it anyway to save time and money for himself. What can I do?

The fact that you got the "vibes" that this wasn't done quite right is a bad indicator. No one wants to feel that way when getting aesthetic dental work accomplished.

The key to handling this is to ask your dentist if this would be okay in his mouth. In other words, would he want to see that gap if that bridge were in his mouth. Unless you get a good answer that makes the utmost sense to you, I suggest you press the point to have it redone.

Now, I'm not being critical in that there could be a thousand reasons why it was left in that manner, but it needs to be communicated to you and make sense to you. If it doesn't add up then go to another office and get a second opinion and compare notes.

Best of luck to you!!!
Reply:IF THE DENTIST DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE PUTTING IN THE BRIDGE BUT DID IT ANYWAY, HE'S AT FAULT AND SHOULD REDO THE WORK AND PUT IN IN A BRIDGE THAT FITS PROPERLY.

WHAT YOU SHOULD DO IS REMIND HIM HE DIDN'T FEEL COMFORTABLE PUTTING IT IN BUT DID IT ANYWAY AGAINST HIS BETTER JUDGMENT. HE SHOULD DO IT AGAIN.

Big boy lost a tooth?

I have a Persian kitty 8 months old. I just noticed that he lost one of his canine tooth (big front tooth) at the upper left. I know kittens lose teeth during 2-4 months old but my big boy is already 8 months old. Could it be possible that he is still losing his baby teeth at this age? Please help.

Thx much!

Big boy lost a tooth?
Try taking him to the pet dentist. I have a cat that is already 1 year old and he hasn't lost all of his teeth yet. That's okay, though. If you're worried take him to the pet dentist. We just let out cat loose them on his own, and we'll only take him there for checkups and if he's in pain or need.
Reply:Its completely normal! Just have a check that the whole tooth is out and that he hasn't broken it but i think you'll find the whole tooth is out and a new one is on its way.
Reply:I have a male cat and when he was around a year he still was losing some of his teeth just like babies they lose there teeth at different times so dont worry he will be fine.
Reply:Hiya hon :o) xx It's still possible that big boy is losing his baby teeth here - when I had my big Eric I noticed that his big teeth were still coming through at 10 months old!! I guess cats are as different as we are when it comes to teeth - if you are concerned, please talk to your vet but it seems pretty normal to me - after all, your big fella is still a kitten: he's not a young adult until he gets to 1 years old and over!! xx

This question shoulda been asked in the Pet (cats) section. But, yes some of his baby teeth may take a while to come out and some may not come out at all and will need to be removed surgically because if not his teeth can become so crooked that he will have trouble eating and it could be dangerous to his health.
Reply:Whoa....feline dentistry...OK...The reality is that you need the advice of an animal doc, a Veterinarian. As a people dental technician I can tell you that over my years in practice I did create replacement teeth for both dogs and cows. I once created a Canine tooth (Porcelain Crown) for a show dog and I made crowns for three high producing milk cows. So as you can see all is not lost, you simply need your Vet along with a Dentist and an especially talented ceramist technician to put your kitty's smile back into action....

Is it normal to have bad pain in a tooth after a root canal?

on monday i had 2 root canals done, 1 on a canine and 1 on a bicuspid. at the end of the canal treatment the dentist put temporary fillings in them and x-rayed them. i was given a script for antibiotics. the bicuspid was sore afterwards but didn't hurt terribly. on wednesday i then went in to get the fillings out and have posts put in to build up the teeth and temporary crowns put on. so now it is one day after that was done. my canine tooth feels fine but my bicuspid hurts very bad. it feels like the pain is in the tooth. i even have an earache and my neck feels stiff. i have on and off pain in the side of my head above my ear. i was also given a prescription for vicadin for pain but that is not even helping. is this normal to feel bad pain like this after a root canal? and if it is, why doesn't the other hurt? i go back on tuesday to get fillings in some other teeth. i'm scared something got screwed up. i have no insurance. this cost me $3500, i have no money left.

Is it normal to have bad pain in a tooth after a root canal?
yes. just take a painkiller.
Reply:Yeah, but just a little discomfort. I feele for you It must be poor to be dirt poor. :(
Reply:I quoted the phrase "bad pain" from your question. I guess if you considered the pain "bad" enough, then it's not normal. Take immediate advice from your dentist for an earlier medication. He knows better for the pain you are experiencing. You may also use OraMD to minimize the pain and to keep your root canals and whole mouth secured from bad bacteria.

2yr old 10" Dovii (Wolf Cichlid) and his teeth have not be visible for six months. Will they grow back???

6 months ago his teeth were visible, and he is missing the two bottom canines. Will they grow back? He also has a slightly twisted jaw. I believe both were probably caused by bashing against the glass. (He was quite violent but no longer bashes at the glass yet still no teeth!) Any help is appreciated!

2yr old 10" Dovii (Wolf Cichlid) and his teeth have not be visible for six months. Will they grow back???
its hard to tell it depends on how serious the injury is.

as long as the rest of it is healthy and it is active and swimming around its should be fine.

It really doesnt need teeth unless it is in the wild for hunting.

as long as it is eating well you really shouldnt worry about it.

I know its hard to leave a fish alone when it is injured but that is all you can do really. Helping it may make the injury worse or do nothing at all.

good luck with it all

I'm getting a baby tooth pulled out?

i'm 13 and i'm getting my baby tooth pulled out in a week. it's one of my canine teeth, and the adult tooth is like growing above it. have you heard of/seen something like this before? will the adult tooth move into the place of the baby tooth? will getting my tooth pulled hurt?

this is sorta off the subject, but do hawley retainers close gaps?

I'm getting a baby tooth pulled out?
don't worry that's normal. your baby tooth is exfoliating and your permanent is erupting to replace the former.it is by the way the right time to have your tooth extracted because your permanent cuspid/canine is already there to replace your baby tooth. many of my patients have gone through like this before. we, dentist know the age of patients when exfoliation normally happen and when their permanent teeth erupts as they succeed the baby teeth. it will not really hurt during extraction, your dentist will give you local anesthetic to numb the area so you will not be hurting.yeah hawley retainers close the gap but it will be your dentist who will decide if you need it. it's normal you have the gap in between your teeth it's because your upper and lower jaw is growing. it will normally close but if it doesn't have it treated by your dentist. hope it help. im a dentist.
Reply:Yes the adult tooth will move in to place. I had this years ago when I was a kid. Getting the tooth pulled will not hurt as they numb your mouth first before they pull it.
Reply:i have the exact same thing and they r going to pull mine and give me braces.
Reply:DOnt Worry

it will be over before you know it.

Might have to eat soft food for a while like at the most a week

But it will be fine.
Reply:Hey dont worry about it be glad its only one i have had ten teeth pulled total! As many as four at a time. your adult tooth will move to the correct spot. just a fair warning when they numb you the numbness takes long time to wear off like 4-6 hours

Can you recommend things to give my puppy to help him lose some of his baby teeth?

My 5 month old puppy has 4 different teeth (two in the front and his two top canines) that have not fallen out even though his adult teeth have grown in. The vet said that we need to start wiggling them to get them out and if they are not out by January, we will need to get them pulled but I really want to avoid putting him under anesthesia.

The teeth aren't loose AT ALL and he doesn't sit still long enough for us to really sit there and wiggle them. Is there anything I can give him to at least get them moving at all? He has raw hides and a cow knee but those haven't done anything. Thank you in advance!

Can you recommend things to give my puppy to help him lose some of his baby teeth?
Leave them alone. Your vet will pull them out when he gets neutered next month (he will already be under anesthetic) when he is 6 months old.

ADD: Gotcha :) If he has not lost his teeth on his own by now, chances are he will not. I would set up an appointment at your veterinarian to pull those residing baby teeth. I would have them pulled within the next month before they create more oral and jaw alignment problems. Unfortunately, no toys/bones/etc. will help his teeth to fall out. Especially, if they are not loose. Good luck!
Reply:y not just have them pulled when u neuter ur dog. that way u can kill two birds with one stone

EDIT: if he hasnt lost them now then he wont and if u dont get them pulled he will be in pain. and it is mean to try to do it urself.
Reply:Give him hard and juicy things to eat and make sure you let him play with yanking kind of toys and toys and food to make the teeth looser and make him healthier.
Reply:Give him a flavored bone (to help with the pain of losing teeth). Also a non-fuzzy squeaky toy.
Reply:Use those chewy flavored bones (NOT RAWHIDE!), safe chewing sticks, and teething toys. This should help. You can also try brushing his teeth.
Reply:At 5 months of age you should be teaching your puppy to sit still for grooming, ear cleaning, nail clipping, teeth brushing.I recommend a puppy obediance class so you can handle your puppy better and enjoy him more. That said, my daughter had permanent teeth come in behind her baby teeth and had to get the baby teeth pulled. Maybe vet can just use sedation, not anasthesia.

Why wont my dogs tooth grow back??

I have a seven month old puppy. Several months ago when he still had his first set of teeth, I was playing with him and yanked a toy out of his mouth which caused his bottom left canine tooth to fall out. I asked my vet about it and she said that there is nothing i could do to his baby teeth that would interupt the growing of his adult teeth. But still four months later all the teeth except for the one that was pulled out have grown in. He's still precious without the tooth but I'm wondering if this has caused impropper growth of the tooth. I'm reaaalllly scared its gonna start growing out of his chin or something.. hahah.. anywaysss helpp meeee.

Why wont my dogs tooth grow back??
The only thing I can think of is that it wasn't a baby tooth, but his permanent tooth that accidentally got yanked out. Either that or he's just missing a tooth - that does sometime happen.
Reply:Dogs usually get their permanent teeth in by 4-5 months, and the canine teeth are the first to come in. So there is a possibility that the tooth that was yanked out by mistake was a new permanent tooth, and permanent teeth don't grow back.
Reply:It couldve been a permanent tooth. Maybe you should go to another vet, and see what they say. or ask someone for a second oppinion
Reply:Adult canine teeth are the last teeth to erupt through the gums. This usually happens around six months but can occur earlier or later. Every dog is different. Give it a little more time don't worry the tooth is not going to grow in some weird way because his baby tooth fell out early.
Reply:The adult tooth should grow back in time. Are his other adult teeth present yet?

The early loss of that baby tooth won't cause any problems for the adult tooth. Think what it was like when you lost your teeth. It's only the baby teeth that never come out that cause problems for the growing adult teeth.

I would think it's very unlikely that this was an adult tooth that got pulled out. Dog's canine teeth are the hardest in the world to remove when they're healthy, there's about 3 times the visible length of the tooth under the gum, it takes hours of chiselling and yanking to pull one out, they don't come out just through playing! Break yes, come out, no.

Adult Canine Ain't coming down!?

In November it will be a year since i had my baby canine removed, and my adult canine still has not come down. My orthodontist even made room for it, seeing that it probably didn't have enough and it STILL Hasn't come down. If i rub my gums where the tooth is, i can feel it, does that mean its impacted?

Or just stubborn as an ox?

I already know i have to visit and oral surgeon, but i'm mostly curious if its considered impacted or not. and if i should just be a little more patient. ..

Adult Canine Ain't coming down!?
If it hasn't broken through the gums that means its impacted, that explains your trip to the oral surgeon.

Recurring tooth pain, left side of my mouth, worsening with each episode.?

Of course it is the weekend, and no dentist available. I have left sided jaw and tooth pain, it is excrutiating. My gums hurt and deep into the bone structure. This is the second time this has happened in the past few months, last time I was on vacation ( i can never get the timing right !) From my canine tooth back in the upper level and the same area in the lower level. Also my left ear hurts a litte. My teeth have been repaired, in fact one broke off and the nerve is exposed. I am older and the teeth that are filled are brittle. Is there some kind of condition that can cause this. I take care of my teeth and floss every night..and rinse with listerine every morning. There are no new cavities. Just wonder if there is a condition or disease that causes this so I can ask the dentist. I know there will be no repairing as he told me before, some day they will have to be pulled. Thank god i have lortabs, but not working, also just got over a sinus infection.

Recurring tooth pain, left side of my mouth, worsening with each episode.?
I'd say it is an abscess tooth that needs to be removed. If you go to the drug store and look closely in the dental section you may find something that may help. There are all sorts of patches and fillers and pain ointment that may help you till you can see your DDS. Also try some sinus medication - the pain could be coming from there and causing pressure on a bad tooth.
Reply:I think it might help is you rub some salt on your gum or tooth!
Reply:I needed a root canal the night before a national holiday and the pain drove me wild.

The only thing that eased it for me was putting an aspirin between the cheek and the gum (at the sore area) and leaving it to dissolve naturally.

I am not sure this is safe to do, so I DO NOT advise anyone to try it, it was just what I did when the pain became too much for me.

I hope you manage OK until you can get professional treatment!

I also found it helpful to only drink lukewarm water and through the other side of my mouth until I could get treated.

Question about a loose tooth and bruxism.?

About a year and a half ago, I woke up one day and my right canine tooth felt a bit weird--like it was slightly loose. I went to a dentist and he said that it was probably dislodged a little bit because I grind my teeth at night, and that it would heal (he said something about comparing it to bruising). It never really got better, but I'm still grinding my teeth too.

I went to a dentist a few days ago for other things and he said that my tooth feels like this because it needs a root canal. He said that a tooth doesn't become loose from grinding unless you have bone loss (unlikely for me because I'm nineteen, he said). Is that true? I was under the impression that you could crack, wear down, AND loosen teeth if you had a teeth-grinding problem. Also--if I need a root canal on this tooth, why wouldn't the other dentist have seen the cavity? He examined it pretty thoroughly (did everything short of an x-ray).

Thanks for any help. I'm really curious about this.

Question about a loose tooth and bruxism.?
Unless he did an x-ray he wouldn't know if you needed root canal as you can't see the apex of the root or periodontally so you don't know whether there is infection or anything. You needing RCT [root canal treatment] probably doesn't have much to do with the bruxism...unless you have clenched and grinded your teeth so much that the enamel has worn off and exposed the dentine underneath, dentine isn't solid and has little channels which can allow bacteria into the pulp chamber which contains the root canal and the nerve inside it.

The second dentist was right, unless you have bone loss or resorption of the root, your tooth won't wobble from bruxism.

Also, cavities aren't always obvious, there can be lesions on the toth called invaginations which look carious but are where the enamel has mineralised differently. it's nothing to worry about...you just can't really tell unless you have an xray.

Hope that helped...kind of.

good luck

:)

Why do my teeth itch?

Every so often the roots of my teeth deep in my gums itch like crazy, epecially my canines and bicuspids. They've been itching for more than a week now and at this stage i feel like pulling them out its so annoying. I know you probably think its in my head or something but im just wondering if anyone else gets this and do they have a way of getting rid of it

(btw i dont have gum disease or bad teeth i've been to the dentist for this before and he was stumped)

Why do my teeth itch?
I'm wondering if this could be related to your sinuses. The sinus cavities sit very close to the roots of our top teeth. When they are inflamed or infected they can sit on the roots and usually create pain or temperature sensitivity. It may be that you feel it in the form of itching. You should discuss this with your doctor. Do you have nasal allergies? If so, then maybe treating the allergy will help. Good luck.
Reply:I really don't know but I think I have the solution you know the chewy toy babies chew on well buy one of those but instead of biting it rub it agains your gum

Tooth problem?

my little brother is 17years old he has all of his grown teeth except for one,he has had an unerupted canine tooth for about a year and a half now,his baby tooth was pulled a year and a half ago because the dentist said that it was suppose to have been pulled out when he was a kid,but it had never got loose to pull it out.So he's just been waiting all this time hoping one day that the tooth comes down, you can even see a bulge in his gum where the tooth is but it just won't come out.He thought about having orthodonic treatment but he doesn't want to have to wear braces for 2 years, is there any thing he can take, or do to make his tooth come out.

Tooth problem?
Punch him in his mouth! Just kidding, he will have to go to the orthodonist some how. But just because the tooth won't come out, that doesn't mean that he has to have braces. I got one of my teeth takin out while I was awake and it didn't hurt a bit. But make sure that if you do go to a dentist or orthodonist, you can trust them.
Reply:When I was little, my dad pulled my front teeth out before they were really ready. The permanent ones did not come down - I had to have them surgically pulled down. he should see another dentist. My puppy (al.1yr.)has a loose lower canine barely holding on & it may be a permanent tooth. What should I do?

We were playing and it became loose and started bleeding. Do I have to get it pulled?, I want him to keep his canines. He was licking like crazy so I think its bothering him, although I don't think its painful? Is it alright if I just leave it and hope it heals?

it's ok, and normal. the tooth should fall out on its own.

if you're seriously worried, then call a vet's office and ask them.
Reply:Go to the vet!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It could become infected and absess. They may be able to save the tooth, but if there is a crack down there, you will have a major vet bill if you don't do something now.

To the Vet!
Reply:Take her to a vet. They can tell if it is permanent or a baby tooth....So you have a puppy? Don't you just love the smell of puppy breath.?
Reply:If it is barely hanging on, it will not tighten up. If he will let you, reach in and pull it out with your fingers. It probably does hurt him and if you pull it out, it won't hurt anymore.

My little girlie dog has a loose tooth and I pulled it out myself with my fingers. It didn't bleed but one itty-bitty drop and she licked my after I pulled it. That was her way of thanking me for relieving her pain.

Good Luck!
Reply:Generally, I'm not one to rush to the vet for every little thing... with minor skin issues and things like that, it's usually okay to observe for a couple of days and just go to the vet if it doesn't resolve itself. But for this problem, you should get to the vet right away!

If this was a puppy tooth (if your pup was around 4 or 5 months old), you probably wouldn't need to worry because it would most likely have become loose since it was coming out anyway. At a year, you're dealing with permanent teeth, unless a stubborn puppy tooth never came out... you'd know because there would be a double canine in that spot, one big, one small, and the small one would be the loose one.

This may lead to big problems if you don't have it checked out soon, and your dog sounds like he's having some pain, so please get to the vet ASAP!!

Good luck!
Reply:Don't let him hurt- PLEASE, take him to the vet!!! He may need pain medicine for the pain!! A tooth ache is one of the worst pains there is!!

Will my teeth get worse if I don't get braces?

I had straight teeth when I was younger, but now that I'm 15, my teeth have grown, and my mouth is a bit crowded. One of my canines is also very large, and my four of my bottom teeth are overlapping just a bit (almost unnoticeable unless you look in from the top. If I don't fix them now, will my teeth get worse?

If I do get braces, I'll probably have to pull at least one tooth. How long will the entire process take?

Will my teeth get worse if I don't get braces?
Yes, your teeth shift as you age, which could make them look worse.

Most people who get braces (or who don't) get teeth removed at one point--I had my wisdom teeth removed right after my braces were removed.

The time it takes will depend upon the course of treatment by your dentist. But, there are LOTS of methods of treatment regarding braces---ceramic, invisalign, standard metal braces, etc.

For me, it took a total of 5 years. However, my teeth were worse than the average person who gets braces. My friends who had braces averaged 1-3 years of treatment.

Talk to your dentist!
Reply:yes, your teeth with still shift and crowd as time goes on. This is why people who have gotten their braces off have to wear a retainer to bed in order to prevent their teeth from shifting,
Reply:Many people are able to go their whole lives without needing retainers or bracers and still have room for their wisdom teeth. It depends on the size of your teeth, and how much space your jaw has to accommodate them.

Ultimately, the safe thing to do is take your dentist's advice, but if you're afraid he or she is not telling you the whole truth, don't be afraid to ask questions, or get a second opinion.
Reply:Your teeth could shift and become more crowded. You didnt say if you had your wisdom teeth out or not. If they havent come in yet (wisdom teeth) I think your teeth will definitely shift. Crowded mouths are also more prone to gum problems and are harder to get spaces between the teeth properly cleaned. I recommend getting an orthodontic consult or two. The consults are usually free and the orthodontist can tell you what they have in mind to help you with your crowding. Crowding doesnt just affect your looks but can also affect your bite.

I am getting braces on aug 14 and i am wondering how long it will be until my teeth are straightened?

my teeth have a little space in the front and the two side teeth are small and set back and my canines are a bit up high but my bottom teeth are really straight and i have no bite problems; no overbite, underbite, crossbite, or openbite.

I am getting braces on aug 14 and i am wondering how long it will be until my teeth are straightened?
It really depends on if you follow your doctor's instructions completely or not. The more you follow the more chances you will have them off in no time. I would say about 1 to 2 years if you follow the instructions.
Reply:it usually take about 2 to 4 years depending if you follow the dentists rules
Reply:Usually your orthodontists sets the time frame before you get them on. In my opinion i bet you'll have them off in a year maybe 2 at most.
Reply:it really depends on the condition of your teeth. but ttrust me, when you go c ur dentist they'll tell you how long you'll need to wear them
Reply:There is no way anyone can tell you how long your treatment will take without examining you. You have to ask your orthodontist this question.
Reply:i just got mine 3 days ago. your orthodontist should have told you like mine said 18-24 months and that is usually the same for everyone after your teeth are straight you have it for a while after
Reply:According to what you described, I would guess between 1 and 2 years, probably closer to 1. However, I am not an orthodontist so I advise you to ask your orthodontist for additional details at your next visit
Reply:Most likely a year and then a retainer for a year, then wear it just at night then 2 nights a week for the rest of your life... I had the same thing.
Reply:you will start noticing right away maybe a month or so my son had really bad spaces and teeth behind each other and now they are straight it is amazing what braces can do.we noticed a difference in a month or so but it takes a while to see the outcome,he has had his on 2 years now,but wow what a difference
Reply:Well you will probably only have about 1 1/2 years thats about how long i have mine, but at my ortho they straighten your teeth in about one month then they just keep the braces on so your teeth stay like that.

If a baby tooth is not pushed out by an adult tooth, what is it's longevity?

My daughter has had every baby tooth pulled because the adult tooth was unable to push it out. Now, due to impacted teeth, we have the option of keeping in her baby canine teeth or going through 2 years of painful orthodonture. We're leaning towards keeping in her baby teeth and removing the impacted ones. She has small adult teeth so the baby canines fit right in. My question is how long can these baby teeth stay in? Do the roots of baby teeth have a life span or will they last "forever" if no adult tooth is pushing it's way in?

If a baby tooth is not pushed out by an adult tooth, what is it's longevity?
I'm in my 30s and had to have two baby teeth removed. The roots were closer to the surface than adult teeth are and hot foods (especially coffee) really hurt.

I now have to get two implants (cost, about $4500 and no insurance company covers implants).

Go for the orthodontic now or she will have to have it later and it will be more expensive and not covered by her insurance.
Reply:this is messed up. was it the baby teeth that caused the permanent teeth to become impacted? you should've had the baby teeth pulled. i had most of my baby teeth pulled as a child. maybe this was why. you'll have to ask the dentist how long they will last. i've never even heard of this.

Question about braces and false teeth on a retainer?

I'm getting my braces off in two weeks. I'm missing about 8 adult teeth (my wisdom teeth and 4 others...) and my top retainer will have 2 teeth on it (i'm missing both of my canines). My question is, is it hard to eat with the false teeth? has anyone had them or had the same problem as me? My ortho. really hasnt said much about it when i asked him.

Any advice from any of you people that have had the same problem? I hope I made sense...

Question about braces and false teeth on a retainer?
My friend has false teeth and she eats just fine. Maybe its cause she is used to it but dont worry. I am sure you will be able to eat. Good luck!
Reply:I have complete dentures. I do not wear adhesive as they fit properly. I can eat corn on the cob now.

My own teeth were all in such bad shape they had to be pulled. Before I got dentures I could not eat many foods and now I can eat almost everything except some caramel that gets stuck.
Reply:My BF has false teeth and he has no problem with eating just has to glue them in every 3 days. My dad has a false tooth and he does not have any problem at all. You should not have any problem.

A baby tooth question?

I was playing with my son yesterday and noticed that a new tooth was coming in. He already has two bottom teeth, so it really wasn't a surprise to me. What did surprise me was that it is a side tooth rather than a front tooth. He hasn't gotten any of his top front teeth and was wondering is this was normal. I have never seen a baby grow a side tooth before any front teeth have arrived. It looks as if it is one of his canines. I am also concerned that it looks as if it is growing from the side of his gums rather than from the base of his gums. His gums are swollen, so it might just look as if it is growing in the wrong place though. His other two teeth grew in just fine, so it has me a little worried.

Is it normal to grow "canine" teeth before front teeth?

Does the tooth sound like it growing from the wrong place on his gums?

A baby tooth question?
I don't know about it coming in from the wrong place, but teeth don't always come in the same order. That's nothing to worry about.
Reply:Every baby is different and even though there is a norm to which teeth baby get in a certain order, babies can get teeth in a different order than that. If your worried about where the tooth is growing you should talk to the doctor about it.
Reply:It probably isn't the canines as these generally come in much later. You actually have 4 front teeth before the canines. It isn't that uncommon for teeth to come in in the "wrong" order.
Reply:My Niece had the same growth pattern. The pediatrician said that most kids; front teeth come in first, but that it is of no concern if the side or back teeth come in first.
Reply:I am so glad that I found this question because this just happened to me last night. I noticed my son is getting both of the teeth that will be next to his 2 front teeth but hasnt gotten his 2 front teeth yet and I was worried about it. Thanks for the answers!! I feel better now.

I have a 11 year old beagle, his teeth are starting to get yucky. It it OK to get them worked on?

I am worried about him being so old and having surgery on his teeth. I brush them every day, but his canines sre really bad. He is eating fine. His breathe is AWFUL. What should I do?

I have a 11 year old beagle, his teeth are starting to get yucky. It it OK to get them worked on?
By all means, get him to the vet. Bad teeth can kill him. He's in relative good health and there shouldn't be a problem. Beagles live a long time.
Reply:My 13 yr old poodle went to a vet and had 4 molars removed, his breath is fresher, and though he cant chew as well, i know that the teeth arent rotten anymore so they wont ever be able to hurt him anymore or poison his blood once the gum disease gets bad etc. Its well worth the money, it is your baby afterall.
Reply:You can take him/her to a vet %26amp; just request you want a cleaning done on his teeth. I know a lot of vets will want you to have more done, just tell them you don't have the funds right now %26amp; all you want is a cleaning. As for bad breathe, go to your local pet store or regular store, %26amp; look for a treat there named "GREENIES" its a treat for dogs that takes care of their breathe! Good luck!
Reply:Find a good canine dentist. Age shouldn't matter and you want to get them cleaned before the lead to infection.
Reply:There are bones you can give your dog for his teeth and his bad breath. Ask your Vet. if he thinks the dog needs to have his teeth worked on and the age concern. Sounds like they are not bothering him if he is eating alright.

Make sure the bones you give him are not to hard for his teeth.

When dogs have bad teeth this can make their breath smell bad.. Check it out with your Vet.

Dogs can have health problems due to bad teeth not just weight loose! Head off any problems down the road have your Vet. take a look.

Good Luck
Reply:Foul (not normal unpleasant doggie-smelling) breath could be a sign of gum disease.

Veterinary dentistry is fairly common these days, so a professional opinion would be in order. My brother-in-law's pooch had similar problems and he took her in for a thorough (anesthitized) cleaning and she's never been better.
Reply:I think you should get your dog's mouth sorted out.

The dog's age in itself does not make the anaesthetic riskier, only the possible associated health problems that go with age. Your vet can take precautions to ensure any problems are identified and allowed for before the anaesthetic. He will check the dog's heart to make sure it remains healthy, and probably take pre-anaesthetic bloods - these check kidney and liver function and check the animal's glucose levels. Discuss all this with your vet so he's aware of your concerns, and you're aware of what they're doing to make the anaesthetic safe.

Your dog's teeth/gums need to be worked on - at 11 years old, there aren't many dogs who wouldn't have problems here. As explained by other users, bad teeth/gums can lead to bigger health problems like a kidney infection. The dog will probably need antibiotics to clear up any infection in the mouth. If you already brush them regularly, you should be able to keep them clean after the dental work so he doesn't have to have it done again.

Chalice
Reply:take him the vet they will clean his teeth, i had the same problem with my dog
Reply:all surgery is risky but you can get pre anaesthetic blood tests to give you an idea about liver and kidney functions as they are the most affected by the anaesthesia and if the vet thinks the results are high there are still safer methods to use at the vets were i work we used isoflurane on a very sick cockateil and as soon as the machine was off it was awake it is a lot gentler on the liver. goodluck hope that helps

I know this is dumb but...[vampire teeth?]?

i am....kinda obssesed with vamps and wanted to know how i could look like one....

teeth?-someone told me i could grow my canines out but i don't belive that.

outfits?-what kinds of colors do they wear?

now im even reading vamp books...ever heard of atwater-rhodes?-just an author...anyway help plz

I know this is dumb but...[vampire teeth?]?
You can't "grow" your canines, but a dentist can put some fang dental caps on your teeth for you.
Reply:Caps are the easy way to get the fang look -- you can buy them for around $25 a pair where I live and they attach with a kind of wax, or you can go to your dentist and get a custom fit. I suppose if you have implants already you could get fanglike canines installed instead of the usual, but that would seriously cost you.

As for the rest -- skintone and all that -- that's just makeup.

Clothing color -- that's all you hon, but if you want to look Goth or Emo in particular, Google it. You'll find loads of examples. Please note, however, that wearing all white is doable as well; it camoflages pale skin, but it can also stain, and blood is notoriously hard to remove.

In terms of lifestyle, hon, I don't recommend it. I know how to portray one, but I know when to take off the blacks, toss them aside and have a life. I hope you do, too.
Reply:You can buy vampire teeth that come as caps you fit over your real teeth, they can be taken off and re used. For vampire outfits there are a lot of different styles, don't do that Bela Lugosi/hammer horror film thing as it just looks silly. A good look is like Angel or Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Alternatively something really cool is the victorian gothic look with nice shirts with cuffs and black knee high leather boots. I was a vampire with something like the first look I mentioned. I took time to do my nails as black nail polish seems to to be a vampire thing. I had my nails kinda long as well.
Reply:lol same here hey you should email me so we can talk about it anyway they wear black and other colors as well like deep reds purple etc look up gothic clothes there should be some vamp looking clothes im reading interview with a vampire right now lol
Reply:This question shows how little you know about vampires. Vampires are not like portrayed on "Buffy", "Angel", nor the Interview with a Vampire, Queen of the Damned films.

Vampires look like anybody else, (other than the ones that have bought into the Hollywood hype), they are just individuals that feed off the life-force of others. Admittedly, some vampires do drink actual blood. But, those that have a knowledge of magick, or occultism, will know that the blood serves as a magickal link to feed off the individual the blood comes from.
Reply:you go to the dentist and they file your teeth to a pointy shape
Reply:real vampires dress normal like everybody else and dont have huge fangs. http://geocities.com/vampiresitstime will help you learn about vamps.

Premolars and canines?

Do premolars and canine teeth (in humans) usually break like normal milk teeth to give way for permanent canines and premolars, like incisors do?

Premolars and canines?
The process is technically called as ex foliation , the replacement of milk teeth by permanent teeth. You don't have premolar milk teeth, you only have incisor, canine and molar teeth as milk teeth ,which get replaced by the respective permanent teeth. Falling of canine milk teeth and molar milk teeth gives space for the permanent canine, premolar and molar teeth.

Cat with upper canines look like they have been cut off?

I have a pet cat named Bonez. Found him as a stray about 3 years ago. I brought him to the veterinarian to neuter and declaw. I was told he was roughly a year old. He's a domestic long hair tabby, very sweet and even tempered, gets along with all cats. He has always had a drooling problem. Last weekend, my girlfriend pointed out that Bonez had no upper canine teeth. I found that odd and checked it out myself. Sure enough, he doesn't, but there are two stubs with flat ends, it almost looks as if they were intentionally removed. They are each perfectly flat and the same length.

I am just wondering if this is something that is a standard procedure that may have taken place before I found him. Why would he have no upper canines, tooth decay? I would find it hard to believe he would need his teeth removed in under a year old. Also, could this cause any of the excessive drooling, maybe because the mouth isn't catching the saliva? Or are the two likely unrelated? Thanks! Jeremy

Cat with upper canines look like they have been cut off?
Hi Jeremy.

Ask your DVM to check the rest of his teeth for cervical neck lesions/cervical line lesions. (The 'experts' get together and change the name of this problem every month or so, lol. The currently 'in vogue' name is FORLs....feline oral resorptive lesions.) A telltale sign you *might* be able to see yourself is if there is a piece of gum tissue growing down over the outer surface of a tooth.

It's a weird, special type of cavity that some cats get (no one has yet figured out why some cats get them and some don't...or why other species don't seem to get them.) They develop just under the gumline, at the 'neck' of the tooth....and often cause the affected tooth to break off at that eroded point.

If that's what's going on with your cat, he might need other teeth either repaired or extracted....as it is enormously painful to them.

If that's not what it is, your DVM should be able to shed some light as to what happened to his canine teeth. He might also have a condition called feline lymphacytic/plasmacytic stomatitis.

Please consider having him restested for FeLV/FIV regardless....as cats positive for those viruses have a much higher incidence of severe gingivitis, etc. than the general cat population. If he's positive, you need to know about it now. (Let's hope he's not, however....but the test will tell you one way or the other.) Any of these problems can cause increased drooling.

Please give Bonez a nice belly rub for me. :-)

Btw, no properly-educated DVM would ever 'cut down' a broken canine tooth!!! Doing so would still leave the pulp cavity open to infection (not to mention PAIN!) The only way to prevent that is to either do a root canal ($$$) or extract the tooth completely. If just the tip is broken off, but the pulp of the tooth is not exposed, it's left as it.....NEVER 'cut down.' That would only OPEN the pulp to infection.
Reply:Ask your vet
Reply:my cat drools all the time, hes like a dog, it might be because of the teeth or hes just a silly little kitty...

now about the teeth, my cat was also hit by a car and one of his canines was broken so they "cut" it down. vets do that so the tooth doesn't break anymore or get infected and stuff. the vet probably did that to his teeth for some reason like that, or like you said tooth decay made them bad and he cut them down so he wouldn't loose any more, or for some odd reason who ever had him before might have been cruel and tryed to defang him and dewclaw him, does he have claws? are they all OK? they might have just cut the claws. i don't know why people do that, cats cant hurt a person like a dog, but some people are cruel. next time he goes to the vet bring up his teeth and have him check his claws to make sure they are OK also.
Reply:Kitty needs to read your post better.

I have never heard of someone trying to grind down the canines for no known reason. He seems too young to have any real reason. Although, he may have had a habit of chewing on things which round down those canines. I don't think this is the cause of the drooling. Is there an overbite or an underbite? My dog has an overbite and drools quite a bit. Also, mouth and throat tumors can cause drooling.

As far as a cat doing less damage to a person. So not true. A cats bite can lead to loss of a finger or even a hand within days. If ever bitten by a cat, causing a puncture wound and bleeding, see a doctor immediately! Antibiotics are needed. I have seen first hand the dangers from this and have heard of people being hospitalized for days to weeks for cat bits! They are very serious! Please take caution! And I'm sure that's not why the canines are ground down.

Good luck!
Reply:My mom's kitty got hit by my older brother and broke her canines out, and one of my kitties has one of hers broken, but I don't talk to my brother and he hasn't been around so I am not sure what caused hers to break off...and she drools a lot.

Yea, it's normal. My pup is 4 months too, and has two loose front puppy teeth with the adult teeth behind them as I type! lol

Losing the back ones first seems a little strange though. Maybe he's already lost some of the front ones, and you hadn't noticed? Have you ever noticed a bit of blood on a chew toy? Usually that's a good sign that he's got another tooth coming in, or that he's lost another tooth. It's no big deal. Just make sure he's got plenty of toys to chew on, so he can knock them out himself. They also make ice or cold teething toys just like a baby's teething ring, for those times when teething is painful to the pup.

Oh yea, and be careful where you step with a teething pup - Those tiny lost puppy teeth are murder to step on! lol

Good luck with your puppy!!!

Awww, poor little puppy.. You don't need to worry though. As the others have already told you, it's perfectly normal. You might be lucky enough to find another tooth or two. I have 3 of my dog's baby teeth in her scrapbook.

Puppies have no teeth at birth, and grow deciduous teeth beginning their second week of life. At three months of age, the deciduous teeth begin to be replaced by the permanent teeth.

The replacement process begins with the incisors, and moves backwards through the canines, premolars and finally the molars.

The turnover process is usually complete by the time the dog is eight months old, with none of the original 28 deciduous teeth remaining. Most deciduous teeth are swallowed with food and never seen by the pet owner. Occasionally a deciduous tooth is merely pushed to the side and retained next to the permanent tooth. Retained deciduous teeth can be removed by a veterinarian.

The incisors turn over from deciduous to permanent from two to four months of age. The canines usually convert around six months of age. The premolars and molars follow in that order, with the last permanent molar erupting around eight months of age.

Dogs have 28 deciduous (temporary) teeth and 42 permanent teeth.
Reply:Just like people, dogs lose their baby teeth too.
Reply:Like humans, dogs have "baby" or milk teeth and adult teeth. What you are seeing is perfectly normal at his age.
Reply:Yes that is normal puppys loose their teeth kinda like humans do.... that is why puppies have sharp tiny teeth and older dogs have bigger and slightly duller teeth :)♥

Retained puppy teeth?

Does anyone know around what it costs to have retained puppy teeth removed? My eight month old has 3 canines that need to come out. Thanks!

Retained puppy teeth?
Prices vary from vet and location, the weight of the dog also is a factor in determining the price. Call your local vet and ask.
Reply:floss between them 2 x a day and they will usually come out on their own. My toy poodle kept hers until she had her first b day, then they fell out. I kept them clean by flossing and brushing with a baby toothbush, no problems, no huge vet bill, no anesthesia....healthy dog. (spayed pet!) aka the Dirty Cottonball
Reply:Agree with the floss. My sister's rat terrier is the same age, has two sets of teeth...baby and adult. Someone told her to use floss and it's been working.
Reply:I've usually had customers have them removed when the dog is already out to be spayed/neutered.

As far as costs, that will depend on where you live and what size dog it is and also if the dog has any special issues about being anesthitized.

Call your vet and ask. Call other vets. If you can combine it with a spay or something else it may be cheaper.

Flossing and leaving them in for a year, can deform the shape of the bite IMHO. I prefer to get them out sooner rather than later. They are called deciduous puppy teeth AFAIK.
Reply:Has she been spayed yet? It will cost you less if you have them pulled while she's under anesthesia for her spay -- that way you don't have to pay for anesthesia twice, etc (and she doesn't have to go through it twice too!).
Reply:I've heard wildly different amount. anywhere from $20-100. call around for the best price. also have it done during spay and neuter surgery, its less expensive because your puppy will already be out for the surgery.
Reply:they will come out naturally. give them time. some dogs it takes longer than others.
Reply:My chihuahua had his out when he was neutered. Think about having a microchip implanted then to. That way, he is only put out once and receives some pain medicine for it all. I had to feed a little baby food for the next day because he stopped eating.
Reply:Does your dog eat bones? Real ones I mean, the meaty kind? This is supposed to help with teething and retained deciduous teeth.

Dogs can teeth over several months so they may just be taking their time.

Dentists what are some of the options/choices of what to do when a tooth is missing? It is a canine and I?

would like to know the pros/cons of implants/bridges/and whatever else there is to choose from, so as to make the wisest decision.

Dentists what are some of the options/choices of what to do when a tooth is missing? It is a canine and I?
If it's a 3rd molar (wisdom tooth) don't replace it! Anything else here are your options:

Flipper, Nesbit partial, traditional partial, implant, Maryland bridge, traditional bridge, cantilever bridge, bonded resin bridge. These are possibe options. You and your dentist can arrive at the correct choice for you. Get a second opinion if needed.
Reply:Any addition must be attache somewhere. Thus, it damages some other element nearby. A bridge has to be attached to the neighbouring teeth, an implant to the bone, etc. My advice is: find a dentist who is specialised in this sort of procedures and he will tell you what is the best option in your case.

How do i reduce discomfort with these rubber bands to pull my teeth into place after getting teeth removed?

I had 2 teeth pulled on my lower jaw( premolars) and my orthodontist put in these bands from my molars where the braces start, to my canine, since there is now a gap between these...and it feels really uncomfortable, not a pain, but like a feeling that i must bite down furiously, how do i alleviate this and how long does this discomfort last?

How do i reduce discomfort with these rubber bands to pull my teeth into place after getting teeth removed?
There is an oral product called Anbesol that numbs the gums.

I would dab some on the area that is causing the discomfort to numb it so you can get some relief. It numbs the sensitivity of the nerves, so hopefully the feeling you have of having to bite down lessens/goes away.

Tylenol or Advil might help, also.

The bulk of the discomfort should go away in about 48 to 36 hours. Hopefully the anbesol will help until it subsides.
Reply:will hurt a lot and get better. It hurts every time you get the braces adjusted. Persevere and you'll end up with lovely teeth.
Reply:Take 2 ibuprofen every 6 hours.

You know those little pop-ice things? They have syrup in a long plastic envelope. You buy them and put them in the freezer. Those make excellent ice packs. You insert it into your mouth wherever it hurts and it reduces swelling and pain.

I would be tempted to get some oragel or numzit and rub it all over the spot where the premolars came out.

Take care.

Do braces rubber bands move your JAW or TEETH?

my jaw has been in the same place since i started wearing my elastics, but i notice my bottom teeth shifting to the left.

is this normal? should my jaw be moving?

i wear my rubber bands on my left side of my mouth.

from my top farthest back molar on top to my lower canine on the bottom.

thanks :)

Do braces rubber bands move your JAW or TEETH?
Your teeth should be moving, not jaws. That would be pretty painful.
Reply:you teeth should be moving not you jaw! and if it moves any more you should probably go to you dentist and tell them!
Reply:Well, rubber bands are designed to fix your bite. I have to wear three on the left and three on the right because I have an overbite the size of greater Alaska. Rather, I did. It's been getting smaller because my jaw (not my teeth) is slowly moving forward.

Meanwhile, it's the chains that move your teeth, not the rubber bands.

I am going to the dentist for the first time in about 10 years, i have bad teeth, but i was wondering what....

the dentist will do about very minor small decay on the canines/premolars, its very minor on them teeth so im wondering what the dentist would do there.

I am going to the dentist for the first time in about 10 years, i have bad teeth, but i was wondering what....
expect x-rays so that the dentist can see how far the decay goes in the teeth. The dentist will do a full exam of all your teeth, poking them and using a mirror to look at them from every angle. You will be rescheduled for fillings. Don't worry it won't be bad. You'll probably get a cleaning too, which is good and you need it!
Reply:It depends on how deep the decay is. It may seem minor to you, but if you havent been for 10 years it may run deeper then you think (although if you dont feel any pain i would not worry about it being too deep, deep enough for a root canal anyway)

Probably just some novicane and you wont even feel the drilling/filling of it all.

If you are really nervous (like me, i avoided teh dentist for about 5 years... then i couldnt take the pain of my toothaches anymore so i went) make sure your dentist has "laughing gas" or whatever its called. I really cant even have my teeth cleaned without it, i think i have a severe dentist phobia

Please help with my minor teeth problem!?

my teeth arent blindingly white, but they're definately not yellow either, theyre just a normal healthy colour, i'm satisfied with it, and i dont want to whiten them loads because i know its bad for them.

but one of them is slightly yellower than the others. its my first canine at the top right, and it really annoys me! would it work if i rubbed whitener or whitening toothpaste on it every night to make it the same colour as the others.....i know it got that way because its in an awkward place to brush, so i give it a little extra attention...but its notv making much of a difference, any suggestions?

Please help with my minor teeth problem!?
Try using a whitening tooth paste every time you brush.

If that does not work, talk with your dentist or hygenist about this during your next appointment.
Reply:put the whitening pen on that tooth.....and gargle with whitening mouth rinse
Reply:hmm they sell toothwhitening gel at most drugstores or like walmart. something like crest night effects might help. you could put the gel just on that tooth until it matches the rest of your teeth then maybe use the rest on all of your teeth at once (or not). luck.

You really should go to the dentist, since one tooth being a different color than others is a sign that there may be deeper problems "under the surface".

That being said, you can try Go Smile, Zoom Whitening, Rembrandt makes a great whitening toothpaste and Crest White strips works too...Just make sure you are using a Flouride rinse after you brush, like ACT...Whitening treatments can break down enamel after a while. (As can soda, excess sugar, an acidic diet..etc) Good Luck!
Reply:cut one of those crest white strips to fit that tooth.do it as directed until you get the desired color.
Reply:I would try tooth whitener found over the counter at most retail stores.
Reply:hello,

to ansewr ur question i have to say ,usually Canines are this color, Why , we dont know thoese are the teeth that usually biger then the other tooth and aslo yelloewr then the others .there is way for u to do that, You have 2 options , Bleaching Trays or whithning with ultravilet light which is the advancer technology.

also call Zoom...With zoom you will get a free refil of bleaching tray for 6 months,, dont forget in a order for u to get that teeth wither u need to match the color of ur other teeth as the same as that one..so think about it and ask your dentist or your hyginsit to help u with that..

or u can also buy the material over the counter and painted on only that tooth , with their special brushes...hopefully u get a good result and I aslo recommend u use mouth wash (LISTURIN Whithning ) those are good too.

GOOD LUCk
Reply:the best thing to do is white all ur teeth (again) if they are as white as u say they cant get and whiter just do ur whole row and it will eventually blend in...try putting a whiting gel just on the tooth but ull have to sit there with ur mouth open so it dont get rubbedoff by the inside of ur gums

try 'simply white' brand gel its at wal*mart for $5 and sumthin change it cums with a tray but i dnt use it but it wokes rlly good sprecially the wash it comes with it taste good ignore the adding water to it just use it

Don't know. But get animal control to capture it. Don't wait until one of your animals is hurt or a child.

What can I do about broken teeth?....?

I was down for a week with a really bad case of the flu and decided I was well enough to get out last night. While standing in line at the bowling alley, I became hot and disoriented and then I proceeded to pass out. When I fell, I landed on my mouth, thus breaking four teeth on the upper row between my canines. I went to the emergency room where they ran some tests and told me that I passed out from being dehydrated. The doctor figures I lost a lot of fluids during the past week while I had been sick. Anyway, here I am with no medical/dental insurance and four broken teeth. I MUST repair them.. as long as they are broken, I'll never get a good job and I can say goodbye to ever having a date. I am a musician, so I depend on my voice to make a living.... now I don't even have that. The way my teeth are sitting currently, it's hard to sound normal when I sing.... Anyway, has anyone out there been through this before?... What can I do?... Please help, I could certainly use some good advic

What can I do about broken teeth?....?
You need a dental plan that will cover all dental work needed,

right away.

So, no waiting periods, no annual maximums. Also, the bigger

the discount the better so you don't break the bank. I recommend

the eHealthPlus membership. You can sign up online and get

help on Monday. Good luck.
Reply:put you teeth in milk you have 30mins tosee the dentist to save your teeth.
Reply:Get a loan from the band, and fix your teeth, afterwards, than you can keep singing, and get enough money so you can pay the loan back!

Good Luck!=)
Reply:You need to have the broken teeth capped and its not cheap. If you lived here in California I would say to got to Western Dental Centers, they have their own financing and will let you make payments. There should be some place like that no matter where you live, a dentist that has financing so you can get the work done and make payments. Look in the phone book.
Reply:This story makes me glad i was born with 70 teeth
Reply:Let me say first how sorry I am that this happened to you. Next, didn't someone push you, or didn't you trip over something!? Just kidding, but I am surprised that the bowling alley hasn't offered any type of help. Because other people would have swore something else made them fall, nice to see someone honest for a change. I won't go into the story about the pizza delivery man hitting my parked car and then later yelling and swearing at me because I submitted a claim to his insurance Co. for my car to be repaired, not to mention the shop told me it may be totaled if they can't find a panel! Go figure....and I wasn't going to tell you about that, but oh well. Honesty, always works in the long run in your best interest. I do understand and can appreicate yours. Anyway back to your problem. First and foremost you need to go see a dentist. The condition of the broken teeth must be evaluated below the gum line for fractures. It may not be as bad as you think it is, x rays will confirm that. If the teeth aren't hurting on their own, you may not have damaged the pulp. It would be advisable for you to be placed on a round of anitbiotics as a precautionary measure to help the teeth settle down or keep them from flaring up. Now as for restoring the teeth, you may just need a bonding to replace the missing tooth structure, which is the least work and expense. Or it's possible you could just need a crown or two depending on how much tooth structure is missing. This is a little more expensive. Or the other could be damage to the pulp, requiring a root canal therapy and then a crown and yes, even more expensive. There is always the possibility of fractures below the gum line which would require extractions of those teeth and bridge work to be done to restore them. Bridge work is very expensive. So you see, there are a variety of things that can be done, or may need to be done in order to save your teeth. I'm just giving you a break down of the "possible problems" that could be wrong. Call the dentist office let them know about the accident your situation, and you need the next available appointment. Ask if they have a payment plan or financing available. The Doctor will examine you and advise you as to what you will need, bonding, crowns, bridge work or possibly even root canal therapy if the damage warrents it. You have a chance that it could be minor repair or maybe major, you have to go get an exam to find out. If your not experiencing pain that is a good indication that you didn't damage the pulp. No one can just say for sure without seeing the teeth and an x ray. I hope I been of some help to you. Good luck and be sure to get these taken care of, and don't subject the teeth to any other trauma by placing hot, cold or air, stimuli on them.

Show Dogs and Puppy Teeth?

Do judges make exceptions for puppies as far as their teeth not being fully grown in? At what age does a dog's bite need to be fully developed? Is a retained puppy tooth a fault?

(Just got the OK to show my Papillon pup, just trying to figure out if a retained canine needs to be corrected first or not.)

Show Dogs and Puppy Teeth?
Sounds like your dog has deciduous retention - a condition where the baby teeth do not fall out on their own. Don't worry .. I have this condition myself. I am well into my adult hood and still have 4 baby teeth. Its ok for people, but for dogs that develop the correct adult dentition, the baby teeth need to be removed. First of all, the teeth being so close together can cause hygiene issues. Secondly, judges will severely fault your pup for having these teeth. Its a simple, quick procedure so ask your vet about getting this taken care of before putting your pup in the ring.
Reply:Oh Finally I found you! I searched the whole of YA to appologise...I was really mean to you once, well I wernt it was my cousin pretending to be me so i'm sorry for that please don't think I would do something like that =] kisses x Report It

Reply:Your dog needs to be in its natural state. Just cleaned and fluffed. Don't rush anything with the development of the dog's teeth or the new tooth might not grow in at all.
Reply:By the time you are showing your puppy at dog shows, her adult teeth should be in ... The first class is 6-9 month age class. If your puppy hasn't lost his puppy canine tooth yet, you can go to the vet to see if it needs to pulled, if it is in the way of the adult tooth coming in. Usually, the baby tooth will come out when the adult tooth pushes thru.
Reply:Puppies start to loose their deciduous (baby) teeth at about four months of age. Although there is some variation, most adult dogs have 42 teeth, with the molars coming last, at about six or seven months.

Yes, you will need to have a retained canine tooth fixed, regardless of whether you will be showing her or not. It is considered a fault and can cause health problems down the road. Definitely call your Vet and schedule an exam to have the tooth looked at.
Reply:Check with your Vet. If it is indeed a retained "puppy tooth", you should have it removed so the permanent tooth has room to come in.

Poor bites are penalized in various degrees, depends on what your standard says about the proper bite. You could get in trouble if you used bands or any appliance that tries to change or correct the bite.

Hope this helps. Good luck.
Reply:SAME WITH THE OTHER TWO
Reply:Well, by six months or older, all adult teeth are usually in, so that is when you start entering real shows. Under 6 months, you can enter puppy shows, but those are not for points.

And yes, retained and abcessed teeth are faulted and should be seen by a vet. The bite needs to be fully developed because a wrong bite is faulted

So yes, your pap's tooth should be taken care of FIRST.
Reply:You need to have that tooth extracted. Extra teeth aren't allowed in a lot of breeds. Consult the breed standard.

If you can wiggle it, you can get it out yourself...

I believe the "dog, sir?" quote is from The merchant of Venice. I can't be 100% sure without scanning the play again, but I believe it is Shylock speaking to someone in the courtroom. Try that play before you go to far elsewhere.

Milk teeth?

By what age can I expect my Tzu puppy to have the full set of her milk-teeth? She is 9 weeks now and she is missing most of the front ones (top and bottom), but has her canines and random back ones. If all her teeth do not come in time and she already starts losing them, will her adult teeth come in even in places where milk teeth did not get a chance to grow? By what age can I expect to see full set of adult teeth?

Thanks!

Milk teeth?
you will notice the front two "bucky" teeth will be replaced by adult teeth at approximately 4 1/2 months of age. all adult teeth should be in by 6 months of age. sometimes in smaller breeds the adult teeth will come in and the baby teeth will not fall out "retained teeth." at the time of spaying you can have those baby teeth removed so that they don't cause any trouble (infection, inflammation, and causing trouble with the way the adult teeth are arranged).
Reply:At 14-16 weeks they should have most of their adult teeth.

Also, unless there is an obvious misalignment I would not worry too much about it, they don't really do doggy braces, so they would most likely remove the offending teeth later on if there is any discomfort.

Help me about my teeth?

Am i suppose to loose my teeth that are after the first four in front when im around 8? my canine ones are small and im 12 and one is loose, but idk if its a permanent or if im suppose to loose it? help me

Help me about my teeth?
You would be losing your baby canines (cuspids) and getting new ones around age 11-12. So it sounds like you are on target! Take a look at this chart - it will help you figure it out http://www.ada.org/public/topics/tooth_e...

Hope that helps!

Reply:i dont really know which 1 yoiur talking about it sounds like a yes
Reply:The canine is a baby tooth that you will lose, and a permanent tooth will come in where it was. You will start to lose the teeth behind the first four anytime after age 10. Some come out quicker than others, and usually around 12 you start to get in what people call your 12 year old molars.

How can i save bad teeth and $$?

very concerned about the holes im seeing in my teeth. i've got at the very least 4 cavities that i can see with my eye that have me really worried. I'll start with the worst:

my 2nd molar on the upper right has a big cavitiy on the side touching my cheek

next my lower left canine has a cavity on the front just above the gumline

then my 1st molar on the upper left has a pretty big cavity on the side facing the tooth in front of it

Then recently i've noticed another one forming on the side of my upper incisor on the upper left. it is especially hard to keep clean because it's on the side and it's getting deeper.

Also i have recently found out that i was prescribed 4 times the legal limit of adderall xr, and i had been taking 120mg for the last 5 years(adderall xr is basically 4 different types of meth when you get down to it), so idk if that might have weakened my teeth. I've already spent a fortune on my teeth, any help will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks a bunch!

How can i save bad teeth and $$?
I hope the previous person response was just joking ... cause that's a really pointless thing to say.

First start rinsing your mouth with warm salt water... after you brush in the morning and at night. This will help clean things up a bit and help minimize bacteria from spreading around. It also makes heal any cuts that are in your mouth.

You may want to have your teeth cleaned also and get a mouthwash with fluoride- this will help strengthen your teeth.

You may also want to see about taking calcium pills or some sort.

There are clinics in many cities that you can contact to help with any dentistry you need. You can contact your local low income clinic- they will help you find a dentist or have a dentist
Reply:Wow, i'm a medical assistant and im speechless. go see a professional. or visit a Dentist for the Uninsured. theyre all over the country and theyre inexpensive.
Reply:I don't think you can save your teeth AND save money unless you have some really good insurance. But definately go seen a dentist or you'll regret it! don't worry about the money as medical problems seem to get worse if you don't take care of your mouth.

There is a health benefits company that is only $11.95 a month and they can save you up to 80% on your dental work. I use them since my family got denied for dental and they have saved us hundreds.

The $11.95 plan includes, Vision, Prescription and Chiropractic care. Be careful not all health benefits companies are legit or will save you money. This company has been in business for 14 years and BBB member and have over 1.5 million customers.

I wish you the best of luck,

Oh they also have Medical benefits for under $60.00 a month and thats for an entire household that even includes the dental.
