Third set of teeth?

i have noticed what feels to be the beginning of a new tooth above one of my canine teeth. Is it possible to have a third set of just one tooth...or is there something else that could cause such a feeling...it feels like there is a popcorn kernel stuck in my gum but i know it isn%26#039;t because it has been there for a while and when i touch it it feels like a tooth.

Third set of teeth?
It is extremely rare for people to have a third set of teeth, but it is not uncommon for teeth to be blocked by other teeth (crowding) when they are coming in and get moved into a different place. This is really easy for a dentist to check, just 1 simple x-ray.

As for the popcorn, that is even more common. Sometimes a piece gets stuck between the tooth and the gum and causes an infection that causes a swelling and bleeding when you floss. Your gum would also be very tender and sore.

An infection in your tooth could also cause a bump on the gum area of a tooth; also easy to see in that same x ray.

If its been there for more than 10 days I%26#039;d say see a dentist.

Good Luck
Reply:my front teeth have always been that way...dont know why, was told it was normal without a reason...just incase you dont get a better answer.
Reply:That%26#039;s called Tartar. It%26#039;s also known as calculus. It can occur above and below the gum line.
Reply:Yes have seen them but very rare!1 An Xray will show what it is. See your DR DMD here
