If all animal life before The Fall (Geneisis) was vegetarian, what was the purpose of canine teeth?

Only after humans betrayed God was death introduced into the world, along with the consumption of animal flesh, so what was the point of giving some animals completely useless biological stuctures?

If all animal life before The Fall (Geneisis) was vegetarian, what was the purpose of canine teeth?
i really doubt that all flesh eating creatures had those teeth in the beginning. as you stated and as i also believe, all creatures ate seeds and fruits.

only after sin was introduced that death came in, and some creatures ate others, then and only then was the other teeth introduced.

as you said, why would he make useless items :)
Reply:Like Silly Puddy?
Reply:To tear through grass, of course!
Reply:who said they were only veggies?...survival of the species is the Prime Directive..you are reading a lot into a few sentences...
Reply:People can use thos teeth for crunchy veggies like carrots. I am sure thats what God intended;-)

Really though, I dont know. I don%26#039;t eat meat but I think all my teeth come in handy.
Reply:canine teeth are for tearing hard food , even hard fruits %26amp; other foods . not only for eating meat.
Reply:It was a way for Satan to trap evolutionists .
Reply:Where does it say anywhere in the Bible that Adam and Eve DID have canine teeth? I don%26#039;t recall reading that in my Bible.

Did you stop to think that it%26#039;s possible canine teeth were created AFTER the Fall?

Just a thought...

And for future reference, it%26#039;s always a good idea to have sources to back up questions like these, especially since there%26#039;s no scientific proof for this theory.
Reply:Cats teeth, including their molars are for exclusively eating meat. Also, it is impossible for a cat to survive on vegetable protein it lacks taurine (an amino acid) that is essential to all cats.

Snakes can%26#039;t even chew how could they possibly eat vegetable matter

Do you think it is because they evolved that way.
Reply:to eat tree bark, the best of veggies
Reply:God knew that man was going to make the wrong choice. With canine teeth, the animals would be ready for the consequences of man%26#039;s decision.
Reply:Mmmm.... eating animals *drools*

i love my meat, nuts to being vegetarian.

and yes, i%26#039;d eat you too if it wasn%26#039;t illegal :)

EDIT:

LMAO @ Jenns explaination... but there IS scientific proof of all others? riiiiiiight...

wgr88: what about aligators and crocs? they can outlive elephants and turtles and their entire diet is meat.
Reply:Hello and there are some animals that have those kind of teeth that are today still vegaterian, like for example the great apes and how about elephants, you will find my friend that the ones who live the longest and are the largest are ALL vegaterian, right down to the turtle, if you will check you will find everything i said is true, God bless.
Reply:Exactly! I am a christian but I don%26#039;t believe Adam %26amp; Eve exist.

Not many people know this but Adam had a previous wife before Eve named Lilith. Whoa! That%26#039;s K-razy! Next thing you%26#039;ll be tellin%26#039; me is that there is an arch angel named Metatron oh, wait......
Reply:To chew the grass so it could go down their throats and into their stomach for easier digestion.
Reply:I haven%26#039;t seen anywhere in the bible where animals only ate green stuff until the Fall of man in the Garden. Could you %26quot;edit%26quot; and add that passage for me please?

Edit:

Hey..... you did edit it and you did post your source from the bible.... I hope you get your answer... I still don%26#039;t see where the Fall of man changed the eating habits of animals though.
Reply:Gorillas have huge canine teeth but are vegetarians. We are actually omnivores. Our digestive system is that of a species that eats primarily grains and vegetable matter, supplemented with proteins.

If you compare us to other primates, Chimps eat occasional meat but eat mostly vegetation (Fruits and veggies) and bugs. mmm crunchy....
Reply:I would like to know why humans have a tailbone if there was no evolution. Also, when Michelangelo painted the Sistine Chapel, why did he give Adam a navel? (If he was incorrect, why didn%26#039;t the Church correct him?)
Reply:Even the Brazil Nut today has a large hard shell where it houses it%26#039;s 15 to 20 seeds and the animal that cracks that thing open has huge teeth.

The bible does not say for certain that the animals did not prey on one another.

But the bible makes it clear that the fear of man was instilled into the animals shortly after Adams sin.

If you are thinking of the animal like personality%26#039;s described in Isaiah, Revelation and else were, those are symbolic, they represent people who have those fierce or mild traits of humans.
Reply:I think this is a really good question... as for the people are saying that canines are for eating %26quot;hard%26quot; vegetables?... I think it is fairly obvious that carnivorous animals have sharp pointy canines and herbivores have flat, knobby teeth. All you have to do is look around you.... it isn%26#039;t a coincidince that different animals have different teeth specialized for what they eat. You don%26#039;t see rabbits with razor sharp teeth for eating %26quot;hard%26quot; vegetables...BUT you do see them on lions for crushing the throats of their pray...that is what sharp teeth are for- killing prey... lol.... come on people, stop using your head as a hat rack.
Reply:I%26#039;ve thought of that, too. Why did mosquitos have the capability to suck your blood? If they weren%26#039;t allowed to suck blood before the Fall then how did the heartworm exist since the heartworm depends upon the mosquito and its ability to suck blood for its survival? As for the mosquito and the heartworm, I haven%26#039;t been able to answer that one.

All I can assume to answer your question, since the text does not explain everything, is that God knew that certain animals would need particular features for use after the Fall.
Reply:No. Animals could have died. Humans were originally made like God and so would live forever. The animals had canine teeth. After we betrayed God, God banished us from Eden and made us eat meat.
Reply:it also says God went on to say let the water swarm of living souls And god proceeded to create the great sea monsters and every living soul that moves about, which the water swarmed forth according to thier kinds, and every winged flying creature according to its kind and let the earth put forth living souls according to thier kinds and to make the wild beast of the earth according to its kind and the domestic animal according to its kind and every moving animal of the ground according to its kind. so he proceed to make everything accordingly. And he gave every living thing to adam and eve to use and to take care of and the only thing they were not supposed to use or eat was from the tree of knowledge they were not supposed to use this and tehy did so that s why they were cast out of the garden. everything is made the way its supposed to be.
Reply:Gen 9:3 permits it, you%26#039;re an agnostic, what%26#039;s your point?

Ok I just got your message, and see your point. There are also other biological functions in humans and animals that would need some explaining as well. As I sit here, I can think of a couple of explanations, but it requires the desire to believe, in other words faith. Oh, since I mentioned possible answers.....God%26#039;s foreknowledge or predestination (changes on whether you answer as an infralapsarian or a supralapsarian or a sublapsarian) I don%26#039;t want to explain, I%26#039;m too lazy.
Reply:Canine teeth are not just for ripping flesh (i.e. meat), but also for breaking nuts, seeds and melons. Panda%26#039;s have very sharp teeth and only eat bamboo.
Reply:you really believe in all that crap? Isn%26#039;t it obvious? It%26#039;s all made up.
Reply:God is omniscient. He knew Adam and Eve were going to sin. He created carnivores fully equipped. Not just canine teeth. The carnivores also came with sharp claws and fast legs to catch their dinner. In the garden of Eden, God provided the carnivores with cowpea, swinepea, chickpea and pigeonpea that tasted just like beef, pork, chicken and squab.

Actually God himself likes meat better than vegetables, as you can see he preferred Abel%26#039;s offering of lamb to Cain%26#039;s offering of produce.
Reply:Crack nuts with %26#039;em. If you%26#039;re going to do this, let%26#039;s try a little imagination... %26quot;Canine teeth%26quot; is just a name. There no law that says they have to be used for tearing apart flesh.
Reply:Yes, the Bible says that God gave the green plants to all animals to eat. However,

nowhere does the Bible say that animals %26quot;cannot%26quot; eat meat...it only says they were given grass to eat. In other words, they were not prohibited by God from eating meat. Also, nowhere does the Bible claim that there was no physical death before sin…it is inferred from the Genesis text and this verse, Romans 5:12, which states, %26quot;Wherefore, as by one man sin entered into the world, and death by sin; and so death passed upon all men, for that all have sinned.%26quot; Why many theologians have interpreted this to mean %26quot;all%26quot; death, including physical death, is unclear, as there is no theological reason for it to infer

physical death, when you consider the context of the passages in Genesis. In Genesis, it is obvious that the passage means spiritual death, not physical. Here%26#039;s a

simple logical answer...when Adam ate the apple, he entered into spiritual death...he did

not physically die when he bit the apple. We know this because he had children with Eve

after he ate the apple. Adam did not introduce physical death, but spiritual death. In fact, if you read Satan%26#039;s dialogue with Eve, then you will see the answer plain as day. He told Eve she would not die, but all the while Satan knew that he would be introducing spiritual death to the world. How else was Satan to prevent people from following God...killing them physically did not end their spiritual relationship with God. By introducing spiritual death, Satan knew he could prevent people from worshiping God. Yes there are many contradictions in the Bible that atheists like to use for their cause but your canine teeth argument is not scientifically or theologically one that would stand up.
Reply:maybe so they coud be ready when animals start to show up on the earth
Reply:How do you know they had them to begin with? And humans do not have canines still.
