Can you pull a puppies canine tooth?

My 4 1/2 month old german shepherd puppy is teething, and he was chewing on a rawhide bone. I noticed some blood which isn%26#039;t unusual, but i took a look at which tooth he was loosing and it was his canine tooth. It was lying flat against the roof of his mouth. Do i try to remove it myself, or wait until thurs. ( his next vet visit) and let them look at if if he doesn%26#039;t swallow it? I am unsure of letting him swallow it with it being a canine tooth. Any ideas?

It will do him no harm at all if he swallows it. If it is as loose as that though you may be able to pull it but if you are due to see the vet anyway let them do it. I%26#039;ve removed my own cat%26#039;s broken canine before but I know what I am doing.
Reply:You can pull it or just leave it alone. Chances are, if you look again, it is already gone.
Reply:if its loose you can pull it as long as its a baby tooth.i talked with my vet and he said that was fine i had one puppy that wanted me to get them out.
Reply:Most pups do swallow their teeth. I have found very few of my dogs puppy teeth. It didnt hurt them one bit!
Reply:As he continues to teeth and chew on things he will naturally lose his teeth causing him no harm what so ever. This is probably the best technique because the teeth will come out when they are more naturally like to.
Reply:DO NOT pull it out yourself. These teeth take very long to grow back if not taken out properly and with out it your dog will be unable to eat properly. I would say wait until thursday. If your dog swallows the tooth, it won%26#039;t matter. Dogs often swallow their teeth when they lose them.
Reply:It will probably be out by the time I write this to you. You can wiggle it yourself or let it fall out on its own, but no need to intentionally pull it out. If you do, no big deal though. Puppies are the best. I had a german shepard growing up and now have a weimaraner.
Reply:All dogs teeth up until the age of 6 months. Your dog is simply losing his baby k9 to make way for the adult k9. And if he swallows the tooth it%26#039;s no big deal. I have had dogs and cats all my life and never once have found a tooth lying around the house. They were quite alright after swalloting all those teeth. So dont worry. You actually want them all to fall out. It%26#039;s better for the dog. Otherwise they will start to rot and your doggy will get bad breath. So be patient, and if you notice any of the baby teeth still in his mouth after 6 months of age (quite rare in large breeds) just notify your vet for some tips.
Reply:Give him a couple of hours and it%26#039;ll likely be gone on it%26#039;s own. Puppies tend to swallow alot of their teeth.
