im 14, im getting 2 teeth pulled out on the top of my mouth (ones behind my canine teeth) and ive never even had like a cavity before
whats the process?
how much does it hurt?
please help with any tips for getting my act in gear to do this! thank you sooo much
Scared of getting teeth pulled?
well, i have one pulled behind my canine. and it was because the root was too long, so it would have never like fallen out!
but, once they have you on like the numbing medication, you dont really feel it. it just seems scary because you can hear everything they are doing. ask if you can listen to your ipod though!
but afterwards, you will most likely have a huge hole that you will be tempted to stick your tongue in. and its going to bleed. but just put cottonballs in there, or follow your dentists instructions.
its not that bad!
i had it done when i was 10, and at the time i didnt think it was TOO scary.
oh, and im not quite sure of the process. but i know it starts with some sort of anesthesia and ends with your tooth pulled!
:] good luck!
Reply:I had two teeth pulled about about 2 years ago. The injections (to numb your mouth, usually two or three of them) hurt abit but are soon over, if you focus on something in the room they tend to hurt a lot less.
Then you can%26#039;t feel the tooth being pulled at all.
Its funny afterwards when you try and take a drink and you%26#039;re mouth is all numb =p
Try not to worry about it, i doubt it%26#039;ll be as worse as you think!
Reply:I had one of my top teeth behind the canine removed and it didn%26#039;t hurt. You get nerve gas and your numbed up. The only thing that was weird about that is that I heard them breaking the tooth as they were trying to pull it out. I didn%26#039;t feel anything I just heard it. You%26#039;ll be fine though I promise. Just ask them if you can listen to music in some headphones while it%26#039;s being done.
Reply:well see when i was 8 i had four teeth pulled out and they put me to sleep they wont do it to you though but they will i think put you to sleep then pull it out but if they dont it wont hurt cause i have two teeth that need pulling plus a cap on my back tooth and one of my teeth is split so dont worry it will be alright i promise
Reply:it doesnt reli hurt i had 1 pulled bout a month ago was totally freakin out but it woznt so bad.. take ur ipod/mp3 in and listen 2 it, it reli helps

Does baking soda and peroxide really clean teeth and make them white?
Does baking soda and peroxide really clean teeth and make them white?
Whenever I go to the dentist they complain that my teeth are too yellow/orange/stained to get sent to the braces doctor(Name slips my head at the moment) so they tell me to keep brushing twice a day and flossing once. I%26#039;ve been flossing once every two days and brushing everyday, just to get the hang of it. I *WANT* braces. I have those %26#039;canine%26#039; teeth that are near the top of my mouth and I want them fixed.
Today my aunt told me to try this; baking soda and peroxide every second day insted of toothpaste, but, use my floride after it. Does this really help get my teeth clean?
Does baking soda and peroxide really clean teeth and make them white?
Yes, it does. I heard about it on the Oprah Show - Oprah Winfrey uses it on her own teeth and look at her teeth - they%26#039;re absolutely beautiful! Best of luck!
Reply:I heard baking soda works well, try it.
Reply:It does help and it helps to eat a spoonful of baking soda for heartburn
Reply:Yes, in my experience it does.
Reply:yeah it will. thats probably what your grandma used when she was little. my mom does it 4 times a week and hers are really white. and she%26#039;s a major coffee drinker so if it works for her it has to work for you! i use colgate whitening! i only have a cappachino once in a while but that colgate keeps mine white

Reply:I dont think ur dentist is not referring u to ur orthodontist jus because ur teeth is yellow. most probably its because ur teeth is dirty. they wont refer u unless u can keep ur teeth clean cos u need to put in extra effort in cleaning whn u hve ur braces on. if u r not able to take care of ur oral hygiene, during ur treatment u can develop gum disease n also white spot lesions (initial stage of decay) on ur teeth which is gonna cost u more to go for further treatment to correct all these problems. n ur treatment is a waste if u have well-aligned teeth but gum disease n holes on ur teeth. so make sure u r brushing ur teeth well atleast twice a day most importantly at night n flossing ur teeth atleast once a day. by tis way ur oral hygiene would b better n u would also b happy wif the end result of ur orthodontic treatment. all the best to u.
Reply:I agree with Jarin. It%26#039;s not that your teeth are yellow from stain, they are yellow from plaque! They will not refer you to the orthdontist if you can%26#039;t keep your teeth clean without braces. If they put braces on you and you can%26#039;t keep your teeth clean, then your teeth will rot out.
You have to brush at least 2x/day for 2 minutes each time. Time yourself, you%26#039;re probably not even brushing close to 2 mintues each time. And get into the habit of flossing, if you can%26#039;t do it, then get a Waterpik. You%26#039;ll need one for braces anyway. Also, make sure your toothbrush is small, really compact, maybe even a child%26#039;s size one. If your teeth aren%26#039;t straight and are really crowded then a larger toothbrush will just skip over areas and no matter how much you brush, you%26#039;ll always miss those nooks and crannies.
Good luck!
Reply:the braces doctor is an orthdontist by the way.
umm i have heard that peroxide and baking soda work well. but i have never used it. i would advise you to be very careful and do not ingest or swallow any of it though. hopefully they work well for you.
i personally use the crest whiteneing pre brush rinse and my electric toothbrush. that works well for me, but my teeth have always been white.
you dont have to get the crest kind i saw at target that they have target brand for a few dollars less, i use crest but they should work the same.
good luck.
Reply:Baking soda and peroxide WILL make your teeth clean and whiter. They%26#039;re the main ingredients in most toothpastes already. All your removing are added chemicals and flavors. Peroxide is great in that it gets in between your teeth to break down exsisting plaque. Baking soda is better than regular toothpaste because it doesn%26#039;t have all the harsh chemicals.
I mix up some baking soda with peroxide in a small cup, dip in my toothbrush and gently (!!!) brush my teeth. The peroxide goes to work foaming and killing bacteria and restoring the health of the gums and the baking soda cleans my teeth.

What will a dentist do to correct teeth that are like vampire fangs?
my two teeth (the ones that are pointy and on either side of your front teeth on top, maybe called canine teeth?) stand out a lot because the other two teeth are further back. so i basically really do look like a vampire, lol. what can a dentist do for that? braces or what?
What will a dentist do to correct teeth that are like vampire fangs?
If you have very sharp or pointed canines, they will usually file them down a bit to make them less pointed. Doesn%26#039;t hurt a bit.
Reply:Braces , defenantly. But it wont hurt. They just might only put brackets on those back teeth.
Reply:they can file them down, or they can replace them but thats usually alot of $

Why have my baby teeth not fallen out yet?
I have 2 adult canine teeth still waiting to come out and alas my baby teeth are too stubborn to leave. (upper teeth)
Why have my baby teeth not fallen out yet?
They may never come out... LEAVE THEM.. until a dentist has reviewed your case.
Some people will never lose them, due to there is no %26#039;permanet%26#039; tooth above it, to push it out. X%26#039;rays.. will tell them if something is up there or not. If there is a adult or %26#039;permanet%26#039; tooth there.. most likely its out of align and cant get out, something is in the way stopping it. This happens alot in people with crowded teeth.
Your dentist can tell you the reasons in which this is happening, either way. Ask him.. from that point on, he%26#039;ll give you the options you need or can take from there!
Reply:because your onlt 6 years old!
Reply:my husband is 47 and still has a few of his baby teeth.. they never havew fallen out. Might be genetics.. his mom had baby teeth she never lost either. Talk to your dentist... you may need to have them pulled so the adult teeth can come in. I had to have that done with a few of my teeth when I was about 13.
Reply:You neglected to mention a very importnat pice if information. Your age. Go back to first grade and ask in a few years.
Reply:Because you are too young..... Mine prob didnt all fall out until I was 11 or 12
Reply:The dentist might have to yank them out. That is what happened to my sis. SHe said it kinda hurt but it was okay.
Reply:Some baby teeth never do fall out, probably hereditary. Go to the dentist and have xrays to see if you have adult teeth to fill the spots.
Reply:There are several genetic conditions that would cause the baby teeth not to leave. Go and see your dentist, he/she can help you.
Reply:There could be a couple reasons.
1. Your canines maybe congenitally missing.
Is any one in your family missing those teeth, it is genetic??
A dental exam with specific xrays of those areas will show if
indeed those teeth never formed. It is quiet common but
unless you are looking for that anomaly you would never know
2. They also could be impacted inside your palate in witch case
an xray also would show that. Then your dentist will advise
you the best way to bring then down.
3. You could just have lazy canines that may need some help
by your dentist to remove them.
In what ever scenario your dentist can tell you the best was to
manage it.
Hope this helps you..

Are My Toddler's Teeth Normal???
The other day I noticed my two year old%26#039;s canine teeth are extremely sharp and pointed, almost like fangs. The teeth on the bottom row directly below her %26quot;fangs%26quot; have not fully grown in yet, but they also are razor sharp and pointed. Will her adult teeth also grow in this way?
Are My Toddler%26#039;s Teeth Normal???
That is the correct shape for canines, pointed and fang like. They may be sharp but will wear down with use, just as all teeth do. Take a look in the mirror, yours should have a point to them, if they are flat your grinding your teeth and need to have a night guard made. Your toddler is fine, trust me. Good luck!
Reply:I think it%26#039;s time to see a dentist; I never heard of that. I know their teeth becomes rotten around the bottom.
Reply:Adult teeth are always lager , and more dense. As you use your teeth they dull. I don%26#039;t believe you have anything to worry about.
Reply:Yes this is normal. My daughter is 5 and hers have smoothes out quite a bit and they use to be very sharp too when she was 2. I wouldn%26#039;t be too concerned. When she goes to the dentist for the first time ask about it and they can explain why.
Reply:Don%26#039;t worry, my little brothers teeth grew in very sharp too. When I commented on this my parents said I had very sharp teeth too, but they are fine now.
Let it go, if her teeth are sharp, their sharp. Her preschool classmates are going to ignore her and tease her because she had sharp teeth, it%26#039;s no big deal. There%26#039;s really nothing a dentist can do about it, I%26#039;m not sure if he%26#039;ll even agree to do something about it on such a young child.
I don%26#039;t think her adult teeth will be like this. Like I said, mine aren%26#039;t and mine with very pointy too.
Reply:The baby teeth come in like that, some are pointier than others but it is completely normal. They have to be sharp to break through the gums at the later age that they do, the gum tissue is very tough. The chewing/grinding that he does will wear them down a bit naturally. His permanent teeth won%26#039;t be quite as pointy!

In a dog, when would the last of the permanent teeth come in?
My 13 pound, 7 month old poodle mix still has not gotten her teeth between her canines and her molars. Is this normal? Also, her lower front teeth are very very small while her canine teeth seem about average.
She eats well and chews on toys etc with no apparent problems but I do see her constantly shift her food to the back of her mouth so that she can get a grip on it.
Thanks for your replies.
In a dog, when would the last of the permanent teeth come in?
It can take till 8 months for permanent teeth to come in,I%26#039;d wait just a bit longer.
Reply:Thank you. I like your answer too. Co-incidentally I received a postcard from the vet saying that she is due for a shot. So this is going to work out perfectly! Report It
Reply:A lot of smaller dogs have teeth issues. You should probably bring her to a vet so they can x-ray her mouth to see if there are any problems that you can%26#039;t see. They can fix her up good as new!
Reply:Your dog should already have the permanent teeth. You need to go to a vet that has training in dental disease and has access to dental radiography (different from regular radiographs in both technique and machinery). Vets get minimal dental training, so finding the right vet is very important. I refer all of mine to someone that is doing her fellowship in dentistry.

I grind my teeth, how much can I expect to pay to fix them?
My teeth are ground down pretty flat, more on one side than another which is the worst part - I have been able to stop myself from grinding most of the time and sometimes wear a bite splint to sleep, so they really haven%26#039;t been worse in the past couple years, but my canine teeth are very visibly worn down especially. How much does it usually cost to fix them? One person I know who is older paid $1100 to fix all of his teeth, and they were much much worse than mine (he is more than twice my age, however). Can I expect to pay as much?
I grind my teeth, how much can I expect to pay to fix them?
Crowns would be the only restoration you could use to build teeth back up. Each crown can cost close to $1000 a piece....depends on where you live. The dentist would have to take molds of your teeth and create a model to see which teeth would need to be restored.
As far as what you said about stopping your grinding. Don%26#039;t be fooled my friend. It is related to stress and how we handle it. You may think you don%26#039;t grind or clench anymore, but you do. It may not be as strong, but its there. Wear your splint...especially if you restore your teeth with porcelain crowns...you%26#039;ll break them off over the years.....I%26#039;ve seen it.

I have vampire teeth?
wanna be an actress, I am very serious about it. I wanna do tv acting. The only problem I have is that I have vampire teeth. By this I mean that my canine teeth came in above the rest of my teeth and are pointy. They look like fangs or something! Be honest will I be rejected in the biz for it? Do I need to get it fixed first? I may get braces for it, can I act with braces?
I have vampire teeth?
No, you%26#039;ll do fine!
If you want braces, and you%26#039;re already acting, then you should probably get the ones that go behind your teeth.
Reply:a picture might help. even if you think it%26#039;s that bad, you can always get things like that corrected now. you can get your teeth reshaped.

Can you whiten your teeth with braces on?
or is this stupid because the brackets are in the way and once you get them off youll have yellow squares on your teeth?
if i can, what do you suggest? i dont know how much longer ill be in my braces, could be months or could be years (Im waiting for my two top ******* eye/canine teeth to come in (ive been waiting for them to come down now for a good seven years and i KNOW they are there, i can feel them and i see a bit of white one poking out) and plus i dont have an orthodontist right now becuase my parents failed in getting me one when i moved...so my teeth are rotting in this metal i havn%26#039;t seen a dentist in a while or an ortho in five months
so can i make my teeth whiter?
Can you whiten your teeth with braces on?
Not really a great idea and you seem to know why. The area covered by the brackets would not be whitened. A lot of people have concerns about their teeth while in braces, like %26quot;the only white place is under the bracket and the rest of my teeth are turning yellow.%26quot;
A whitening tooth paste may help to prevent the exposed areas of your teeth from getting stained, but it won%26#039;t noticeably whiten them.
Wait until your braces come off (start going to your appointments so that you can finish), and keep your hygiene up to prevent them from staining or decaying.
Coffee and most colored canned or bottled drinks do stain.

if i can, what do you suggest? i dont know how much longer ill be in my braces, could be months or could be years (Im waiting for my two top ******* eye/canine teeth to come in (ive been waiting for them to come down now for a good seven years and i KNOW they are there, i can feel them and i see a bit of white one poking out) and plus i dont have an orthodontist right now becuase my parents failed in getting me one when i moved...so my teeth are rotting in this metal i havn%26#039;t seen a dentist in a while or an ortho in five months
so can i make my teeth whiter?
Can you whiten your teeth with braces on?
Not really a great idea and you seem to know why. The area covered by the brackets would not be whitened. A lot of people have concerns about their teeth while in braces, like %26quot;the only white place is under the bracket and the rest of my teeth are turning yellow.%26quot;
Good Luck

What needs to be done to fix my teeth?
I%26#039;m scared of not knowing what needs to be done and what procedures the dentist will have to do to fix my teeth.
I have about 8 broken molars, at least 3 of them are not fixable, because the molar is completely gone. All four canine teeth started decaying at the gumline, and two surrounding teeth. I have one tooth in the front, that chipped in behind it and is decaying from the back. I don%26#039;t know exactly how many cavities I have, but I%26#039;m sure its alot and I have to get them filled as well. And my teeth are starting to squish together, they are getting closer together, giving me uneven teeth %26amp; my jaw locks all the time. What procedures will I have to have done, to get my teeth fixed? how can I get over my fears?
What needs to be done to fix my teeth?
Look in your phone book for dentist, that use sedation dentistry. Go see him, and let them look at your teeth. Explain to them your fears and concerns. They will probably give you something the night before.
Also, realize the first visit they will not do anything, other than x-rays and an exam.
Reply:I had terrible problems with my teeth due to a sugar addiction. For years I was too embarrassed to go to the dentists, so they got worse %26amp; worse. In the end, I had to go to an emergency dentist as I was in so much pain. He took out a couple of teeth. It didnt hurt as they first inject a local anestic %26amp; sent me on my way. I plucked up the courage %26amp; made an appointment with my real dentist to finally get them sorted.
I was scared (more embaressed to be honest) but she filled the holes and they are fine now.
It sounds as though you just need to bite the bullet %26amp; do the same. Please don%26#039;t be scared!
You will feel so so much better when you have been and will wonder why you left it for so long.
Remember they have seen it all and they are there to help you.
best of luck.
Reply:I know it%26#039;s hard, but you have to get it taken care of. The longer you wait, the worse it%26#039;ll get. The toughest part sometimes is that first visit because you have no idea what they%26#039;ll say and you%26#039;re kinda embarrassed. But, dentists see every kind of problem.
If you%26#039;re worried about cost, you may want to get your teeth pulled and go for the dentures. All of that work will not be cheap. Luckily, we live in a pretty amazing time for dentistry. The stuff they can do is cool

My new dentures are awful! the teeth are huge and my smile shows about an inch of gum. I look like a horse!?
I realize that the fit of dentures with newly extracted teeth will be contiunually adjusted but it%26#039;s been 2 weeks and eating is very difficult. I can%26#039;t tell if food is inbetween my gums and teeth unless i feel around with my fingers. my bite is first on the teeth next to the %26#039;canine teeth.%26#039; so when i chew i%26#039;m continually loosening the upper back seal. my right uppper side teeth are bigger than the left side. i just feel awful. i hate to smile and i speak with a lispe. i%26#039;m extremely embarassed to eat anything in public cause i can%26#039;t tell if food is still in my mouth. my dentist says. %26quot;ohhh their not that bad, you just need to get used to them.%26quot; I%26#039;m young and was really looking forward to pretty, white pearls, not oversized uneven buck teeth. is any of this normal for dentures.
My new dentures are awful! the teeth are huge and my smile shows about an inch of gum. I look like a horse!?
No not for good ones. Get another dentist to look them over. They may have been done by someone who was not very skilled. If they are good dentures they will fit well and look like your old smile.
Reply:I use to work in a dentist office and it sounds to me like you need some soft reline mat%26#039;l ask your dentist about it and in 3-6 months you can get a permanent reline done.

Reply:see a prosthodontist (specializes in the field) dentures are a difficult bussiness a dentist needs to take many things into acconut. facial alignment, bone structure etc etc. did this dentist ask for a picture of what you looked like before your teeth were all extracted. if your not happy with them now you never will be go back let them know your concerns and get them done your way. afterall your the one wearing them.
be well
Reply:I would go back and explain to the dentist what you are displeased about. New dentures (immediates) are not always perfect and require a lot of patience on both your part and that of the dentist in order to make them fit and function properly.
The cosmetic factor of immediate dentures is always questionable. You do have to compromise to some degree and know that in time you can have all of these issues addressed. Eating is always a frustrating job with new dentures- the fact that you are working on it is commendable.

Third set of teeth?
i have noticed what feels to be the beginning of a new tooth above one of my canine teeth. Is it possible to have a third set of just one tooth...or is there something else that could cause such a feeling...it feels like there is a popcorn kernel stuck in my gum but i know it isn%26#039;t because it has been there for a while and when i touch it it feels like a tooth.
Third set of teeth?
It is extremely rare for people to have a third set of teeth, but it is not uncommon for teeth to be blocked by other teeth (crowding) when they are coming in and get moved into a different place. This is really easy for a dentist to check, just 1 simple x-ray.
As for the popcorn, that is even more common. Sometimes a piece gets stuck between the tooth and the gum and causes an infection that causes a swelling and bleeding when you floss. Your gum would also be very tender and sore.
An infection in your tooth could also cause a bump on the gum area of a tooth; also easy to see in that same x ray.
If its been there for more than 10 days I%26#039;d say see a dentist.
Good Luck
Reply:my front teeth have always been that way...dont know why, was told it was normal without a reason...just incase you dont get a better answer.
Reply:That%26#039;s called Tartar. It%26#039;s also known as calculus. It can occur above and below the gum line.
Reply:Yes have seen them but very rare!1 An Xray will show what it is. See your DR DMD here

What happens when a dog's canine tooth falls out?
My dog%26#039;s tooth just fell out......What does this mean and what do I do?Her teeth are really bad and her breath smells....Is there anything i can do to save her from anymore teeth falling out.....And again what does this mean for the dog...Does it harm her life or is it something that she can survive with?
What happens when a dog%26#039;s canine tooth falls out?
Your dog%26#039;s tooth fell out because she has severe periodontal disease. Her mouth is infected and she needs to go see her veterinarian to have her teeth cleaned, x-rayed and pulled when appropriate.
Although home care is important, brushing her teeth at this point when her mouth is in as bad of shape as you describe will only cause her more pain than she is already experiencing. (Imagine how much it would hurt to brush your teeth if they were so rotten that they were mobile and falling out of your skull!) Please don%26#039;t do that to her.
In response to your final question of does it harm her life or is it something that she can survive with - the answer is yes to both. It does harm her life as it is a constant source of pain and infection that she is having to live with (and swallow) every day. But can she survive with it? Sure - many dogs suffer with dental disease for years and years - the question shouldn%26#039;t be can she survive with it but rather why should she have to?
Good luck to you and your dog and let us know how she does!
Reply:Your dog needs a trip to the doggy dentist. Have your vet give your dog a dental. She probably has a mouthful of problems. Dental intervention is the best way to save her remaining teeth.
Remember, ignore your dog%26#039;s teeth, and they%26#039;ll go away.
Reply:i think it is ok but maybe you should try to bush it%26#039;s teeth. that will keep the smell down and may help keep it%26#039;s teeth in.
Reply:Did it fall out???? Or, did she hit it on something and it broke off?
If it fell out, your dog probably has some gum disease, and yes, she can lose more. It can also cause many other health problems. Please see your vet and they can treat her and teach you about good oral health for your pet.
I have a dog that hit her mouth on a cast iron chair, and her canine tooth broke off to the gum line. It%26#039;s gone for good and the root reabsorbed, so I didn%26#039;t have to get it surgically removed.
Also, if your dogs breath is real bad that%26#039;s another symptom of teeth and gum problems. Vets do recommend having your cat and dogs cleaned once a year!
Is she an older dog??
Reply:Unless she has some serious medical condition that makes anesthesia too dangerous, she sounds like she really needs a dental. If the teeth are in really bad shape they may need to pull them, but having them extracted is preferable to having them fall out as there is risk of abcess/infection.
Untreated dental disease can lead to other serious problems, not too mention it leaves the dog in pain. If your dog gets a professional cleaning the vet will probably go over techniques for brushing her teeth and keep them as healthy as possible. Good luck!
Reply:Well I guess you start to wonder why you have been neglecting her teeth up to this point.. Then you make a vet appointment and vow to take better care of her teeth.

I have a very noticeable gap in between my teeth that is too small for an implant. What can I do?
When I was 16, a %26quot;dentist%26quot; removed a baby tooth -the upper right canine tooth- along with the one next to it to provide enough space for the adult canine tooth that never grew. The results were terrible. I was left with a huge gap in my teeth. I started treatment with braces, and the %26quot;orthodontist%26quot; told me that at the end of the treatment, he would put an implant. But guess what? The gap is too small for the implant, so despite perfectly aligned teeth, I still have that gap that is very noticeable when I smile. I am very insecure about myself because of this. A dentist recently told me veeners are not an answer, so is there really something I can do to fix this?
I have a very noticeable gap in between my teeth that is too small for an implant. What can I do?
was an X ray not taken before the treatment, to find out if there is no permanent canine or was the permanent canine removed by mistake? Take a full mouth X ray like an OPG %26amp; check for the canine, usally the canine do not go missing.
use a composit filling to close the gap, diastema closure, usally the side tooth is made wider to look natural or two crowns.
Reply:that gap is called dyastama. you should be able to talk to your dentist about composite filling material.

No eye teeth yet, is this common?
my son is 2 and a half in december and he still has not got any of his four eye teeth (canine teeth), he has the front four teeth on the top and bottom, and all four first molars, he is at the age to expect his four second molars very shortly so hopefully they come through.
but no eye teeth,
we have an appointment with the dentist next week and i want them to do a mouth xray just to make sure that they are there.
have any other mothers experienced this same thing?
if so what age did they finally come through?
No eye teeth yet, is this common?
Well he is getting his teeth a little late HOWEVER Canines come in after the first set of bicuspids comes in. So he should start getting them soon.
My girls were late teethers just not quite that bad...my 4 yr old got her 2 yr molars when she was 3 1/2. My current 2 1/2 yr old has yet to get her two yr molars.
Reply:Oh, don%26#039;t worry, they will be there before that baby reaches 3-4 years old. I would suggest that you must not expose the baby to X-ray yet. There%26#039;s nothing to worry about.

Reply:My son got his not too long after getting his front teeth. He was getting all 4 of his at the same time (Upper and lower). It%26#039;s not a bad idea to have the dentist take a look. Around age 2 is when it is recommended to start taking them to the dentist anyway.

Why do dogs get translucent teeth?
My dog has great clean teeth in general. One of his canine teeth has become transluent almost splotchy with a purpleish color. All the others are normal color. This one even has a couple normal colored white spots on it. What is this a sign of? How do I keep this tooth healthy? The dog gets annual teeth cleanings at the vet and I brush them as well. There is no pain associated with this tooth. The gums are not receeding or inflamed. The dog is a 9year old black lab mix.
What to do to keep the tooth?

Baby teeth?
My son is 13 yrs old and still has some baby teeth. What%26#039;s bothering me is that he has his second canine tooth that has come down without loosing his baby one first. It%26#039;s been like that for months now and is completely through. Just recently its done the same on the other side only it%26#039;s just showing. He says when he touches it with his tongue it hurts. I have booked him into the dentist. Do you think he will need braces? I%26#039;m not sure what to expect. I took him to the dentist when it first started to come through and was told to leave it and let nature take it%26#039;s course the baby tooth will fall out. But it%26#039;s not even loose now. Are they likely to remove the primary teeth?
Baby teeth?
Usually, retained baby teeth that are still present after its corresponding adult teeth erupted can be extracted, and that%26#039;s the end of that. If the retained baby tooth has caused a permanent tooth to erupt in a crooked fashion (what we call %26quot;ectopic eruption%26quot;), then orthodontics might be indicated.
Your dentist will be able to tell you for sure after an evaluation.
Good luck!
Reply:it%26#039;s possible the tooth will have to be pulled. when I got braces, they actually had to pull 6 of my permanent teeth. the dentist will know what to do and will refer your son to an orthodontist if necessary.
Reply:Yes,baby teeth need to come out to make some room for the permenant once.Braces are to soon to tell,if he needs them ot not.
Reply:Maybe.
It depends on how %26quot;salvagable%26quot; the adult teeth are.
If the tooth that hurts is the baby tooth, it is probably starting to come loose. If it is the adult tooth, it would likely be irritated.
Easiest thing to do is have a chat with the dentist before and after the appointment and ask all the questions you can think of. If he becomes defensive or condescending, pay your bill, and file a formal complaint with the State / Provincial board. Then send him a registered letter demanding he send all copies of your family%26#039;s charts and information to your new dentist.
Reply:i had some baby teeth that i did not lose until i was an adult. i did not have a permanent tooth above some of the baby teeth. eventually i had them removed and got implants in their place. in my case, they baby tooth had to be extracted first and then the implant done. they told me that the baby tooth was difficult to remove because they begin to sort of fuse to the bone as we age. i did not have them removed when i was younger because they were healthy teeth that were not decayed. i began to get one implant a year because it was covered under my dental insurance plan and i figured that they would eventually need to be replaced.

Teeth Pulling?
has anyone ever had their canine teeth removed?? I have a situation where my baby inscissors never fell out and now my adult one%26#039;s are growing over. (yuck!!) Anyway I was wondering if anyone knew what the cost of teeth removal ranges from. (no answers about wisdom teeth please).
Teeth Pulling?
It depends on the dentist and the area. It ranges from $100 - $300 per tooth. It would probably be on the lower side.
Reply:I had a tooth removed recently and it cost me about $200. If you%26#039;re concerned, call the Dentist and ask.
Reply:I pulled my own out. Its easy, why pay a Dentist for 30 second job $400.
Reply:Yeah about 100-300 depending on where you live and the x-ray the dentist will need to examine before the procedure. You can try pulling your own but thats a pretty dumbass idea. Whens the last time you reviewed the anatomy of your maxillary sinus and nasal cavity that are right above those teeth? Ohh, and most dentists charge more to remove root tips that are broken off below the bone.

Some adult teeth never came in for my toy poodle?
She had 2 canine teeth removed because the adult came in next to them. While brushing her teeth I noticed a gap between molars and canine on bottom jaw. Hate to go to vet for this only. They%26#039;d probably advise implants or something. s this serious? She%26#039;s one year.
Some adult teeth never came in for my toy poodle?
NO definately not!! It may be in her line of breeding that she may be missing those teeth. Next time you have a check up at the vet then have him check her out as to make sure there are no problems with her teeth!!
Reply:I don%26#039;t know but if she can eat she is probaly fine just call teh vet and ask no reason to take her in.
Reply:This happens sometimes. It is a fault in her breeding. She will not have any problems with eating at all. The next visit to your vets mention it to him or her. It is not necessary to make a special trip.
My parents bred and showed toy poodles and it just happens some times.

I still have baby teeth at 16?
Umm I was just wondering if this was still normal. All 4 of my back molars are still baby teeth and (1 on both sides of the top and 1 on both sides at the bottom). And then my top canine teeth are still baby teeth but I noticed the other day that both of my canines are a little loose. I%26#039;m hoping this is just normal. Anybody have any ideas?
I still have baby teeth at 16?
It is possible, some people retain their deciduous teeth when the permanent doesn%26#039;t form. You may be mistaken with your molars, you should have had the second molar erupt by now, but it could be a little late. Check the eruption chart at the site I%26#039;ve listed and discuss this with your dentist, he will be able to tell you exactly what you have and where the permanent teeth are.
http://www.ada.org/public/topics/tooth_e...
Reply:For me I still had a baby tooth until I was about 25. I did not have an adult tooth underneath it so it was never pushed out. I have a cousin who also had baby teeth in her twenty%26#039;s. I don%26#039;t think it is anything to worry about just ask your dentist next time you go.
Reply:The four back molars are normal. They are supposed to stay there and not fall out. But as for the canines, some people are born without any adult teeth, they only have baby teeth. So you might have been born with only baby teeth where your canine teeth are. You might have to get them pulled. Hope this helps.
Reply:Hi. I am 16 and I have very small teeth. My cousin who is only 8 years old have bigger front teeth than mine. My dentist told me that I have very short teeth and I can cut some of my gum to make my teeth long longer, which will look nicer. I think it%26#039;s normal though. Also, I have 2 vampire teeth that are very sharp and small.
Reply:Yup its normal.
Reply:I had a baby tooth until I was 13. Wait! I still am 13. It%26#039;s Ok. Some people are slower developers.
Get an X-ray just to make sure that those adult teeth are formed!
- mariah
Reply:I would go to your dentist and get an xray, you could have an impaction, or the tooth could not have formed. It`s you to you what you want to do with the results either way, but an impaction is not what you want to hear. Impaction, ( tooth formed in the wrong spot ), I had one of my canines impacted and the had to expose it and drag it down with wires and braces......VERY PAINFUL!!!! It was impacted in my pallet. It might be something simple for you, like the tooth never formed, BUT get it checked!!!!!!

My puppy's adult teeth are growing in, but his puppy teeth haven't fallen out yet.. Should I be worried?
My puppy is about 5 months old and his canine teeth are coming in. However, his puppy canine teeth are still in also. Do I need to take him to the vet to have them removed, or will they just fall out in time?
My puppy%26#039;s adult teeth are growing in, but his puppy teeth haven%26#039;t fallen out yet.. Should I be worried?
As someone that works as an assistant at a vet clinic, puppy teeth usually fall out on their own. Dogs are like humans, no two dogs follow the same maturing process, just like kids. Some specific breeds of dogs have worse dental problems than others. The best thing to do is if you are worried, is to take him to the vet and have them looked at. At all worst, you may get charged an office visit. If you can not afford it at this time, keep a close eye on them. Check for loose ones. Sometimes they fall out and you don%26#039;t even know it. Make sure that he has plenty of chew toys. If it starts to look like the teeth are crowding or there is discoloration in the gums or bleeding, take him to the vet as soon as possible.
Reply:They will fall out by themselves. dun worry, be happy! Let nature take its place!Have fun .
Reply:I would take the puppy to your vet. My pom had the same problem and the vet removed the baby teeth.
I had it done when she was spade, while she was asleep they took them out
Reply:Its ok, the puppy teeths will fall out as the adult teeth replaced it. I asked the same question to my vet, when my dog was teething.
Reply:When he goes in to be neutered (in the next 4 weeks, prior to maturity), the vet can have a look and if they are still there, they can take any remaining baby teeth out during his surgery. This will save you money on anesthesia and pain meds.
But yes, they do need to come out.
Reply:if you are very concerened you should take him to the vet to make sure his teeth are fine. His other teeth will probably fall out soon though
Reply:wiggle the baby teeth to help them along
Reply:This does sound unusual, I would call and ask my vet, then go by what he or she says.
Reply:They will probably fall out on their own. Certain breeds like Yorkies can often have more of a problem with this, but it%26#039;s not a big deal. If they don%26#039;t come out by the time the new ones are fully in, then I would take him in. I discovered my puppy had 2 full rows of teeth one day and 2 days later they were all gone. make sure he has plenty of good chew toys to help lodge them out!
Reply:only worry if its bothering him.go to a vet and ask what to do about it....the most important thing is about how your dog feels.
Reply:As the new ones come in under the puppy teeth, they will push the puppy teeth out. If you start to notice things like the puppy and adult tooth in a double row, then take the dog to the vet because it will probably need to have puppy teeth pulled.
Expect to find lots of puppy teeth where you would least expect them in the next month!
Reply:The puppy teeth will fall out naturally.
Reply:If they don%26#039;t fall out within the next month or so take him in and see what the vet says. They won%26#039;t hurt him for now and it is not unusual at all.
Reply:No, don%26#039;t worry. That%26#039;s perfectly normal. As their adult teeth come in, they will lose their baby teeth. It may take a little while, but it will take care of itself.

My lower left canine tooth is crooked and twisted.?
I was wondering if there are any remidies to straighten it out. I dont need braces because the rest of my teeth are fine to me. But it is just that certain teeth that is brothering me. I dont have a huge dental insurance so the cheapest option would appeal to me. Please help me.
My lower left canine tooth is crooked and twisted.?
I agree with Dr. Albert and would add that you might prefer to trim a little here and bond a little there to get the tooth to look more like it is in the natural position. I imagine this could be done for $200 or less.
Reply:IF YOU DON%26#039;T WANT BRACES HAVE THE DENTIST DO SOME COSMETIC RESHAPING.
Reply:There is the alternative of Invisalign or you can also try another method quite similar to Invisalign but much cheaper and it is called ESSIX treatment as described by SHERIDAN. It uses clear plastic plates over the teeth and it is ideal to move single teeth and treat minor malocclusions. It is hardly noticeable and there is not a whole bunch of plates to change all the time.

Problems with teeth, what does this mean for me?
Hello, I just saw my dentist and he said I have 2 teeth with %26quot;buckles%26quot; under them, so I have to get 2 fillings, then my wisdom teeth removed, and then he said I have an extra tooth coming in behind one of my wisdom teeth and referred to it as a canine tooth. Is that unusual? Are these procedures usually excruciating? What should I expect? It%26#039;s been so long since I%26#039;ve seen a dentist, that%26#039;s why I don%26#039;t know. I%26#039;ve never had any problems with my teeth before this LOL. Thanks!
Problems with teeth, what does this mean for me?
%26quot;Buckles under them...%26quot; LOL. Sometimes we dentists forget to speak plain English to our patients instead of dentalese.
The buccal surface of a tooth is the side facing your cheek or lip. I%26#039;m sure what he was saying is that you have cavities on this part of the tooth and need fillings there.
These are usually some of the easiest fillings to do. You will be fine. I hope that helps some.
Reply:I don%26#039;t know what %26quot;buckles%26quot; are, but fillings don%26#039;t hurt. Your mouth will be numb. An oral surgeon usually removes wisdom teeth, and the patient goes under anesthesia. I f your teeth have already come through the gums you shouldn%26#039;t have to go under. A canine tooth is like the ones in front. the pointy ones. It is unusual, but not unheard of. Don%26#039;t have to much anxiety. You%26#039;re not in that bad of shape.
Reply:Some dentists are not to be trusted. Go to another one if you have insurance. See what he says. Dentists need clients. If you are young chance is you never had problems with teeth before. And what is %26quot;buckles%26quot; and why u need fillings for them? He means caries? And if its caries its not under its inside the tooth. wisdom teeth are not big problem unless they hurt. and they dont need to be removed as soon as possible. Because wisdom teeth are all the way back in the mouth its hard to beush them and they go bad faster than other teeth and spread caries to surrounding teeth.

when you feel pain or are sure something is wrong with you...TALK TO YOUR PHYSICIAN nobody on Yahoo answer will give you a prescription :)
Reply:try flossing...or take pain medication. You can also buy some medicine from a near by drug store for them too. cream or mouthwash.
Reply:if you have a headache and feel stuffy you could have a sinus infection sometimes that will cause your teeth to hurt
did you get your braces adjusted it could be those teeth are moving
Reply:it hurts when they tighten the braces; try painkillers. ask your parents for something.

my dentist tells me that i have small teeth which has created a gap between my two front teeth, the gap has caused the teeth next to it to turn and plus one of the front teeth has been pushed back on an angle. he says the only way to fix it is by turning the teeth next to it and pushing all my other teeth forward. however since my canine teeth are in the right place it would cause problems apparently and he would have to shave them down. making my teeth look even smaller. he also wants to x-ray my head because he thinks my jaw will grow. he says i would have to wear the braces for six to eight months. is this a good estimate? my friend thinks my dentist is making it more complicated than it is and is only trying to get money out of me. is this true? are there any other methods possible to fix my teeth problem?
How can i fix my teeth? is my dentist lying to me?
First of all, dentists have caused so many health problems in this country that it is just incredible. Any time you do work on a tooth, you cause it to have trauma. The trauma is cummulative and after about 3 or 4 traumas, the tooth can die. The easiest way to solve the gap problem is to get some bonding done. This is easy and does not require a lot of trauma to the teeth. When you use braces, this is not a permanent fix. The teeth have grown that way for a reason. When you straighten them, it works for several years, but the teeth will still tend to go back to their original placement over time.
x-raying your head? For what? Any radiation is cummulative also. Is he proposing to use the new digital x-ray or the conventional x-ray that is 10 times more exposure.
Ask your dentist if he believes amalgam fillings are O.K. to put in people%26#039;s mouths and does he do that procedure? Then ask him if he knows how to read an x-ray to determine if NICO exists in the mouth or does he have to physically examine the mouth to determine that?
If the answer to the first question is Yes and the answer to the second question is he can%26#039;t see NICO in an x-ray, like most dentists can%26#039;t, you need a new dentist.
The only dentist I let touch my mouth now is a %26quot;biological dentist%26quot; that uses the right materials and procedures to protect my body of all the damage typical dentists are causing people. Many diseases and serious problems are caused from infections that lie under ALL amalgam fillings and cavitations under root canals done using the standard latex type filling materials used in root canals.
Be VERY cautious about who you let work on your teeth in America. The ADA does not look out for you and are controlling dentists in very negative ways.
good luck

Reply:Nope, your dentist is right you will need braces (in order to make your teeth straight), and I think that is a good time estimate. Also, if you don%26#039;t believe him you should get a second opinion, from an orthodontist perhaps?!
Reply:I%26#039;m 42 years old and I honestly can%26#039;t understand what the deal is with braces today! Honestly they are fine! 2 of them have really straight teeth, one has a %26quot;small%26quot; gap between his front and the other has 1 crooked tooth! Big deal. They eat and talk fine and look good too.
When I was younger, I even remember watching movies with the movie stars even having a crooked tooth or two. Jodie Foster being one of them. It just simply wasn%26#039;t done as a general rule then like it is now.
And to pay 1500 dollars for one root canal! Get real! %26quot;IF%26quot; I would pay that kind of money for one tooth, I want a written guarantee that that tooth will be in my head when I die! They won%26#039;t do it. So yeah, dentists are all about getting all the money they can these days. It%26#039;s up to you. Think about it.

What teeth do dogs use for chewing and eating kibble?
My dog had to have the teeth behind the canine teeth pulled yesterday and I had asked if he needed to be on soft food. I was told that the teeth that were pulled they don%26#039;t use, but when I went to rinse out his mouth after I had fed him, I started to worry that those were his chewing teeth and he might not be able to eat hard kibble afterall. Don%26#039;t dogs use their back teeth for chewing the same way that people do? I don%26#039;t want to give him hard kibble if it will make him sore, yet I know that soft food isn%26#039;t good for his teeth. Help!
What teeth do dogs use for chewing and eating kibble?
A family friend%26#039;s dog lost almost all his teeth, too-- he%26#039;s a springer. He never had any problems with any kind of food; he continues to eat hard food and downs people food with a vengance as well.
Your vet knows what%26#039;s up. I don%26#039;t think there%26#039;s such a thing as a crooked vet, or even one that wouldn%26#039;t do everything necessary for your pet.
Reply:Canines (incisors) rip %26amp; tear. Molars grind.
But to be honest, dogs swallow most of their food whole.
Reply:When I have watched my dog eat he has used his back teeth, what will it hurt to feed your dog soft food. Your vet may be a %26quot;doctor%26quot; but you are the owner. My vet tells me I know my dog better than he does.
Reply:Dog normally use their front teeth to rip apart their food, using their back ones to grind it down and swallow it.But lots of the time a dog wont even chew its food and will just swallow it whole.

Crooked teeth genetic..?
It%26#039;s a weird question, but I%26#039;m curious.. :D
My brother (14) and I (21) both have one high canine tooth, but you can%26#039;t tell when we smile because our upper lip covers the high tooth. But our parents%26#039; teeth are straight.
Then my husband and his sibs (except for one) have crooked teeth, like where the 2 front teeth are more to the front, but their parents%26#039; don%26#039;t.
THEN there are people like my friend who just have perfect straight teeth, as well as their family.
Why is that?! I%26#039;m such a dork, but like I said I%26#039;m curious. Is it genetic somewhere along the line or something?! Thx :D
Crooked teeth genetic..?
It%26#039;s definitely genetic.....My sister and I got my mother%26#039;s teeth and as a result we both spent four years with braces to correct that...while my dad%26#039;s side all have fantastically straight teeth. Bum deal or what?!
What is kinda funny to do and if you have a lotta time on your hands is go thru old photo albums and just look out for the dominant genes running thru your families like hair colour, teeth, noses eyes etc. Perfect for those boring rainy days!!
Reply:Genetics have a strong tie to how large your jaw is, how many teeth you form, and the shape/size of the teeth.
Reply:I think it is genetics. Most of us in my family have straight teeth. I never had braces and I get asked often if I ever did wear braces, because my teeth are so straight. But I think if you have a smaller mouth you can get crowding with so many teeth needing to fit. I was always told to not wiggle my loose teeth as my baby teeth were falling out. I really tried not to do that and I guess it helped, but my mouth is large enough to fit all of my teeth. Even my wisdom teeth came in straight. I never needed them pulled.
Reply:definately genetic, even worse if you sucked your thumb..

After Drill and fill 3 weeks ago- teeth hurt now?
I had my canine and the tooth behind that on the right side done just over 3 weeks ago- drilled and filled 3 cavities in the canine and 4 in the one behind it (back, front and inside and outer surface)
Now, when I bit down on food or anything, they hurt almost as if the nerve is pissed off. Prior to having them done I had only slight aches now and then in the canine tooth.
2 of the cavities were near the gumline. Is this why they hurt?
He is a great dentist, very popular and great reputation- I don%26#039;t doubt his work, I doubt my teeth. They all have cavities and I almost would rather have them remove all the tops and have a partial put in but the dentist wont do it because he says my teeth are fine and can be saved. What he doesn%26#039;t understand is they hurt from time to time- and even after having them fixed?
After Drill and fill 3 weeks ago- teeth hurt now?
Sometimes if the filling is very near a nerve it will irritate it which is the pain sensation. I had a tooth that did that and the dentist went in and took out that filling and put a layer of a different material (forgot what it was called) and it didn%26#039;t hurt anylonger. definately call him and let him know whats going on so they can fix it!
Reply:Something similar happened to my husband. Our dentist is also a great dentist. But no matter what she (the dentist) is also a human being. Human beings make mistake. So when it happened to my husband he went back to the dentist. The dentist took a look at the tooth and fix it. The pain goes away. It should not hurt 3 weeks after. It means there is something wrong with it. If your great dentist can%26#039;t figure out then try to go to a different dentist for a second opinion. Good luck!
Reply:It is common to have sensitive nerves, but if your in excrutiating pain call your dentist

Um...go to the dentist? You cant fix it on your own.
Reply:Im with sassy...
Go get some braces. they did wonders for me
Reply:You%26#039;re a minor. Your parents will have to take you to a dentist and orthodontist.
Reply:go to an orthodontist for a consult. majority offer free consolutes so it will not coast you anything. they will tell you exactly what needs to be done, how long youwear them and how much it will cost. Ortho is the only thing that will fix crooked teeth.
Reply:Ask your dentist about the Veneer%26#039;s procedure or Lumineer procedure. Those 2 options might just do the trick without the need of braces. Keep in mind that these procedures might be a bit expensive according to how many teeth they might have to work on. Best of Luck!

and do all pomeranians not like to get there teeth brushed??
Pomeranian bad teeth?
Little dogs are well known to posess %26quot;garbage%26quot; mouths, so its not uncommon for your Pom to be losing his teeth. Well you are doing a good job by trying to brush his teeth so I applaud you on that but then again trying isnt doing. Is there someone at home with you that can restraint your dog while you brush his teeth? Maybe have a parent or friends help you, to do this just get a towel (a big one) and put it on your dogs back so it hangs over his sides like a blanket. Then pick him up and tuck the ends of the blanket around him almost like you are making a doggie burrito. Then have your helper hold him in the doggie burrito (make sure his head is sticking out lol) then you can brush his teeth without him getting away. If he starts to wrestle and fight correct him with a firm No! not yelling just firm and deep. make sure your helper keeps a tight grip on the burrito too. Keep practicing this and shortly you should be able to brush his teeth without him wrestling and maybe even without a partner. Now since your dog is already displaying signs of peridontal disease I suggest taking your dog to the vet and getting a cleaning. These can range anywhere from $50 to $150 depending on your vet and the extent of the decay and yuck in his mouth. Once you get that done you need to really keep up with the brushing, your vet can tell you how often you need to a week. This will slow down the chances of him developing bad gum disease and losing all of his teeth. Once you develop a routine keep in mind that every 4 or 6 months you should go in and get another dental cleaning just to make sure everything is in good order. I hope this helps you some!
Reply:Oh my gosh. I love pomeranians anyways well you might want to just watch the teeth in case they get worse!
Reply:My long hair chihuahua (she could almost be considered as a Pomeranian) has orangy brown teeth near the top of her teeth but she has no teeth missing. maybe you should get a dog tooth brush and toothpaste and brush his teeth once a day. see if that works. if his teeth keep falling out, you might want to consider to see a vet cause if all his teeth fall out he wont be able to eat. so i would definitely consider seeing a vet. also make sure you are not feeding him food that could be causing it in any way. also try to get the smallest food possible so that it does not knock his teeth out. I really hope this helps!
Reply:Best thing to do is take him to the vet, he may need a dental cleaning done. After the cleaning you can try him on a food that helps to clean their teeth while they eat. Its great that you have tried brushing, some dogs will just not tolerate having it done. Its hard to say how much it would cost, you can call around different vets as they all charge different fees.
Reply:Sounds like the dog needs a dental. Take the dog into the vet and talk about the dogs teeth and ask about a dental. Your dog has calculus(plaque, tartar) build up on the teeth.
My vet charges me $150 for a dental.
Give the vet a call and ask how much a dental costs for a pomeranian.
If you start brushing at a young age there is no fuss with brushing the teeth.
Once the teeth are cleaned brush the teeth daily.
Reply:You do want to take your dog to the vet so they can look at his teeth. I%26#039;m not sure how much it would be for a medical exam, but you can call and ask. And the doctor might then suggest that he gets a dental cleaning. They can give you an estimate for how much that might cost, and what goes into it. Generally your dog would stay at the clinic for a day, and he would be anesthetized. Then his teeth would get cleaned with an ultra sonic scaler to remove the calculus (which can%26#039;t be removed by brushing alone), hand scaled, polished, and they would apply flouride. But your veterinarian will be able to go into more details with you about that.
For brushing his teeth, this will help reduce any more plaque from building up on his teeth. You will have to go slow to start, and you want to make it fun. You only have to brush the outer surfaces of his teeth, focusing on the back molars. Be sure to use Dog Tooth paste.
To start you want to put him up on a table, or the dryer, or something tall. Apply a small amount of tooth paste to the brush, and just brush a few teeth very quickly. Once you are done, Priase him Like Crazy! And give him a good treat. Around the same time the next day, do the same thing. Brush just a few teeth very quickly. Then immediately Praise Like Crazy! And give him a treat. After a while he should start associating having his teeth brushed with praise and treats. And you should be able to brush a few more teeth each time, spending a little more time in his mouth. I hope this helps! Good Luck!
Reply:My personal choice would be to switch diet. At least a high quality kibble if you don%26#039;t already feed that, but preferably some RAW/BARF. It really helps on the teeth as well as makes the dog healthier in general. Since his teeth are already problematic you would have to start with small bones and easier to chew pieces.

Vamp Teeth and Super Glue?
OK so i got a little messed up and thought that some vamp teeth i had bought online would look great if they were permanent. So i super glued them to my teeth.
What i want to know is if this is harmful to my real teeth. they only cover my canine. teeth.
here%26#039;s a link to the teeth.
http://www.vampfangs.com/Scarecrow-Subtl...
and if they are harmful how do i remover without going to a dentist is there anything that will remove super glue??
If they are not harmful i would like to keep them surprisingly they look really good. and are uber comfortable. i don%26#039;t have any problems eating or sleeping with them in.
and if harmful plz list what will happen i would actually like to know. = )
thanxs. and yes i have decided to get better friends who dont let you glue crap to your teeth when messed up.
Vamp Teeth and Super Glue?
Interesting. I would guess that the glue they use is some form of acrylic polymer, like that which would be used for fake fingernails. Using superglue just makes it more permanent.
I can%26#039;t see any harm in them if they are comfortable. If it interferes with the way you chew your food, then they should be removed. If there are rough edges or any excess glue that might collect plaque, then these should be smoothed off.
When the day comes that you want to remove the teeth and the glue, you%26#039;ll probably have to see a dentist to have it ground off with sandpaper discs and rubber polishers.
Reply:Did you use..regular super glue? or the glue that actually comes with those sort of teeth to keep them there? Never use a regular super glue not made for dental work in your mouth, the fumes, or even ingesting some could be harmful. Talk to your dentist about good SAFE dental glue that you can use.
Reply:dont use super glue!
they will harm you.
and if you eat it..
well then..

Baby teeth.......?
A friend of mine has a three month old baby and his 2 canine teeth are %26quot;right there%26quot;..just about to break through...he has no other teeth, has anyone ever heard of this happening before,my friend is worried, mostly because it is suppose to be the bottom front teeth that come in first-not the canines!
Baby teeth.......?
sorry she cant do anything my 3 year daughter she got her 2 teeth in at once the 2 year molars she got when she was 3 months old every body said the front ones should of came though first now she needs surgery on some of her teeth because her 2 year old molars came in first and it left the other teeth with cracks in them. it sucks put nothing can be done
Reply:i am sorry about your frind
Reply:Teeth come in, in what ever order they come in. Not a big deal. Babies can be born with teeth, have teeth come in at 3 months or not get their first teeth until they are 2 years old. Sometimes it%26#039;s top front, sometimes bottom, sometimes the canines, about the only predictable pattern is that they do come in twos. Relax, now you can use the baby as a stapler remover/hole punch (just kidding!!)
Reply:they come in how they want to come in..the dentist will say the same thing.
Reply:my daughter started teething at 3 months also, there is no real rule that the bottom or top two teeth have to come in first.

Toy Poodles has this, a lot. You need to take him to the Vet %26amp; have it pulled, so that the teeth will straighten up %26amp; not grow crooked. The VET will pull however many that needs to be thinned-out. As I said, this is a common occurrence for the toy poodles, for I have had them for years.

You can leave them in, but you run the risk of them becoming abscessed/infected. Plus you can%26#039;t breed or show your %26#039;purebred%26#039; if he has teeth that are retained. So sorry, if you don%26#039;t want to go to the Vet to have them pulled, then don%26#039;t ask this question!? and %26#039;Derr%26#039; don%26#039;t be rude to people who are trying to help you out!

Retained baby teeth can cause issues in the future with teeth rubbing on each other. And having 2 teeth in the same %26quot;socket%26quot; can cause your dog pain and discomfort. Better to get them pulled to spare your dog the possibility. Plus if you show you won%26#039;t be able to walk in the door with retained teeth.
Reply:What was your real question? And don%26#039;t expect any dog owner to feel sorry for you for having to spend more on Vet bills that on what you paid for a purebred.

Puppy Teeth?
OK...my Amstaff pup is now a little over 4 months old...I know this is when they start to loose their puppy teeth but I was wondering if there was any way to tell the difference between puppy tooth and adult tooth? See, this morning, he was playing with my older male and they were wrestling on the floor when my pup%26#039;s tooth got caught, believe it or not, on the older one%26#039;s tags. Right away I noticed they were stuck and when I tried to seperate them, they both pulled causing my pups canine tooth to break right above the gum line. Now...I%26#039;m freaking out. I%26#039;m sure its painful but he seems fine. I don%26#039;t think there is anything the vet can do (is there?). However if this is a puppy tooth....he%26#039;ll just loose it anyway. I%26#039;m just worried that it was already replaced by an adult tooth...I have the other piece.....is there a way to tell? I feel so terrible about this......
Puppy Teeth?
The canine teeth usually are the last to fall out and this happens at around 5-6months . Your puppy more than likely broke its baby tooth.
Since the tooth broke above the gumline , I would keep a close eye for any infection or signs of pain.
Reply:How big is the tooth? If it%26#039;s really small like some of his other teeth then it%26#039;s a pup tooth. But if it%26#039;s really LARGE and bigger than the others and about as big as the other males teeth then it%26#039;s probably a big dogs tooth. But at 4 months I think that it%26#039;s a pup tooth.
Reply:The best way to know is by contacting a vet or a reputable breeder. They will be able to tell you, with certainty whether or not it is a baby tooth or an adult tooth.
Being as young as he is, I am going to assume it is probably a baby tooth.
Reply:If it%26#039;s a pretty small tooth and as sharp as a tack it%26#039;s a puppy tooth. Puppy teeth are very razor sharp where as adults are not as sharp.
Reply:The puppy will get his adult k9 teeth at about 5 1/2 to 6 months of age. Most likely was a baby tooth, but call your vet and explain what happened, you wouldn%26#039;t want him to get a tooth root abscess, he may want to put him on some antibiotics.
Reply:It%26#039;s worth a call to the vet. If it%26#039;s a puppy tooth, then it will probably fall out soon. My friend%26#039;s dog broke her tooth and had to get a reconstruction. We were worried about infection, but really it turned out fine. If it turns out to be an adult tooth (not all that likely) the vet should probably extract the remaining tissue to avoid an infection down the road. Good luck. It%26#039;s probably just a puppy tooth, but a phone call is certainly free!
Reply:im sure thats his puppy tooth :D my puppy%26#039;s almost 5 months old and he hasnt lost his canine teeth yet

Impacted canine tooth?
i have extracted my non-permanent canine will i need braces to put it in its original place and can i use invisalign or do i have to have metal braces?
Impacted canine tooth?
I don%26#039;t think what your talking about is impacted. Impacted means it is below the gumline and in the bone covered over by bone. If your permanet canine isn%26#039;t in line with the others, you%26#039;ll most likely have to have metal braces to slowly pull the tooth in place. Invisalign is usually for minor cases, however, technology hase come a long way. Best thing to do is get an ortho refferral by your dentis and discuss the best rout with the orthodontist.
Reply:You have asked a good question here. Regrettably you brought it to a location on the Internet where good people could unintentionally give you bad counsel, even as I have done, here on Yahoo Answers. Your question is more important than that and you should seek a more qualified assessment than you might find here.
There are some places on the Internet you can type keywords in to find web sites with a world of information that can help. Some are http://search.yahoo.com , http://google.com , and http://Ask.com just to name a few. You should talk to your dentist.

Reply:According to my orthodontist, simple procedures can be done with invisalign, and anything complicated, you have to use regular braces, be they metal or clear.

Is it too late to brush more to fix the toothache in my canine?
I%26#039;m a guy that hasn%26#039;t been brushing his teeth that regularly, maybe about 3 times a week. When I woke up this morning, there was a pain in my right canine tooth, and whenever I touch and try to wiggle it, it doesn%26#039;t move, but there is a slight pain. I brushed my teeth and it dissappeared for a while, but now, it%26#039;s back. When I brushed my teeth, there was also a bit of blood near the top of my teeth, near the gums. Is it too late to fix by brushing my teeth more regularly or do you recommend I see a dentist?
Is it too late to brush more to fix the toothache in my canine?
See a dentist... If it is a cavity brushing it won%26#039;t make it go away. I suspect you have some gum recession causing tooth sensitivity as well. It also sounds like you have gingivitis... Sounds like you really need a dentist
Reply:It%26#039;s always best to see a dentist if your in a lot of pain. You might want to get a cleaning from them.
Reply:It%26#039;d be great if a toothbrush fixed everything...but..see a dentist
Reply:It could be a cavity, or you might need a root canal. You need to get it taken care of before you lose the tooth. It would not be fun to lose a front tooth like a canine. Keep brushing and flossing regularly to help prevent this from happening to the other teeth. Good luck!
Reply:maybe its a root canal, cavity, or you have gingevitis. my best advice is to go to a dentist and brush your teeth (cant stress that enough!) every night and morning. you dont want to have discolored teeth and bad breath do you?

Too many teeth!! Could I have in fection???
My canine teeth set up high in my mouth and the roots of them feels like they are stabbing me in the bottom of my nose. About 1 1/2 ago all 4 of my wisdom teeth came in and made this pain ALOT worse plus i was pregnant it was horrible. Now that my wisdom teeth are out, Ive went to an orthadontist to see about getting these canines taken care of to move them down and back but she tells me i need 4 more teeth pulled. I feel like a walking tooth. I have an appointment to get some teeth extracted but its 2 weeks from now and my whole face is in pain. I feel like there is infection in the front of my mouth under the nose section. Could I be right??? And if soo what could make it more comfortable until my appointment???
Too many teeth!! Could I have in fection???
high canines suggest that you have crowding of the teeth..why? a lot of factor... one is.. your maxilla in in relation to your teeth is smaller. to relieve the crowding, the orthodontist has to create a space for the canine
Still pregnant?.. better wait....
having to pull the canines to their proper places with braces is also a little bit painful plus it needs also time...
just be a little bit patient.. :-)

Teeth problem!!!?
Hi, i%26#039;m a 17 year old female and just about 2 years ago, my adult canines (eye teeth) grew on my gums right above my baby teeth leaving me with a big problem.
I honestly don%26#039;t wanna go through the hassle and expense of wearing braces for 2 years or more.
I%26#039;ve always wanted vaneers but this problem seems to ruin my chance of ever getting them...can%26#039;t I just pull out the adult canine teeth and place a vaneer or bonding material over my baby teeth instead?
Teeth problem!!!?
It%26#039;s not recommended, eye teeth (canines) are extremely important teeth in your mouth, if they are in proper position, they help guide your jaw when opening and closing, and will protect you back teeth from damage and premature wear, these teeth have the longest roots in the mouth, and can handle a lot of stress and forces on them. if an orthodontist runs out of space and needs to extract something to gain some space, he/she will take out a premolar (the tooth behind the eye tooth), and would leave the eye tooth in the mouth and try to put it in it%26#039;s correct place.
canines are really important component of your bite (occlusion) and I wouldn%26#039;t let go of them that easily.
Reply:I don%26#039;t think you%26#039;d find any dentist willing to remove your baby canines in this situation. Even getting you to sign an informed consent waiver wouldn%26#039;t protect him legally if you sued him later for negligent treatment (which is what it would be).
If you took out the adult canines and veneered your baby canines, they may not last you the rest of your life, and if they get loose and fall out, then what will you do?
2 years of braces isn%26#039;t really that much of an issue if it%26#039;s going to give you 70 years of happiness. And I would much rather have braces then veneers - veneers require grinding back your teeth, and there is no guarantee they will last forever.

I have a baby canine tooth stopping my adult canine pushing forward?
i still have a small baby canine on my top jaw and its in the way of my adult canine, my adult canine is fully developed but it just cant push forward while the baby one is still there but my baby canine just wont budge! its so small now im sure it shouldve fell out years ago like the other one did its not even pointed now :P any ideas what the best option would be because i now have a big gap inbetween my insiscor and canine and looks really ridiculous when i smile like im not even sure if it would push forward if i took the baby one out :S im guessing it would though. also to note im 18 which also makes me wonder why its still stuck in there so hard. any expert help would be great :)
I have a baby canine tooth stopping my adult canine pushing forward?
Having x-rays taken would probably be helpful. That way the dentist or orthodontist will be able to see what is in your mouth (under the gums and all) to see what needs to be done. You may need to have the baby tooth taken out, and then braces to correct the spacing. I would suggest making an appointment with your dentist. He/she can tell you what do from there.
Reply:Have you never been to a dentist? These kinds of things are usually handled when you%26#039;re much younger by removing the baby tooth. It%26#039;s a real simple procedure when you%26#039;re very young. The older you get the harder it will be. Don%26#039;t wait. You will have other problems in the future from it.
